About Us
Namekara Mining Company Ltd is a mining company located in Eastern Uganda, near Mbale and Tororo, approximately 254 km from Kampala and close to the Kenya border. The Namekara Vermiculite Deposit is hosted within the Bukusu Alkali Complex, one of several carbonatite complexes in the Uganda-Kenya border region and the only one currently known to host commercially viable vermiculite. Namekara is the registered holder of Mining Licence MML00397, under which it operates the Namekara Vermiculite Mine.
Job Summary
Namekara mine seeks to recruit a highly motivated and competent Human Resource Assistant to manage employee relations, recruitment, training, compliance, and organizational development to ensure a productive and legally compliant workplace.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Responsible for effectively recording, maintaining, and reporting human resource information.
- Responsible for the accurate and timely performance of payroll functions.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining professional working relations with applicants, visitors, callers, and business professionals.
- Responsible for establishing and maintaining effective communication, coordination, and working relations with Company personnel and with management.
- Ensuring that an HR program is set and objectives prioritized.
- Based on approved HR budget, authorizing commitments and expenditure within authorized levels.
- Ensuring compliance of the HR function to the Namekara Mining Company Ltd Purpose and Values statement and the HSEC management standards.
- Responsible for overall training and development plans.
- Responsible for the implementation of company policies and procedures.
Requirements
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
The ideal candidate would have the following attributes and qualifications;
- A bachelor’s degree in human resources, Business Administration, or a related field from a reputable institution with a first-class degree or second class upper
- Must have a certificate in Administrative Law.
- Being a member of the HRMAU is an added advantage
- Experience in mining, quarrying, construction, or other heavy industrial environments is an added advantage.
- Ability to work in a multicultural environment and interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Desired skills/ competences
- Good leadership and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and record-keeping skills.
- High level of integrity, professionalism, and attention to detail.
- Computer literate with advanced skills in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
- A good command of both written and spoken English.
- Must be hardworking and willing to learn.
- Must be sensitive to the perceptions of other cultures and can manage behaviors to suit a multi-cultural environment.
- Prospective candidates must be able to work under minimum supervision.
