BRAC Uganda Bank Ltd is hiring a Loan Collection Supervisor to manage the bank’s identified delinquent portfolio, recommend and implement remedial action for purposes of minimizing the bank’s loss by collecting all monies owed to the bank as guided by the bank’s policy and existing laws.
Responsibilities or duties
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- To review the delinquent portfolio thoroughly to ascertain the causes of the default and recommend remedial action
- Classify the existing and future delinquent accounts into Watch, substandard, loss and written off as a way of providing suitable remedial action for each category
- Identify, review and assign loan accounts to external debt collectors upon approval and monitor the closure of such accounts by the court bailiffs
- Manage the portfolio at risk (PAR) of top big loans in your division and ensure it is managed within the institutional acceptable levels.
- Provide proactive initiatives intended to minimize the number of loans being classified under loss category which affects NBV.
- Plan, coordinate with branch management and implement recovery of written off and non-performing loans in line with bank’s policy and procedure guidelines.
- Prepare and submit timely reports with clear recommendations on all cases directly under your supervision to Manager Loan Collection or the Regional Manager.
- Negotiate with Debtors and ensure that the Debtors repay the bad debts at a lowest cost of the bank.
- Onboard and manage performance of the external debt collectors and ensure timely submission of monthly status report.
- Oversee credit related cases against the Bank including external lawyers involved in litigation
- Read, understand, practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action
- Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Law, Finance, Economics or related fields.
Experience needed
- A Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Supervisor in Credit/debt collection.
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCES, COMPETENCES
- Analytical and Investigation Skills
- Accounting Skills
- Knowledge and experience of credit administration
- Demonstrated expertise in the credit cycle
- Sound understanding of banking industry
- Knowledge and understanding of FIA
- Industry & product knowledge
- Excellent supervisory skills
- Ability to work under pressure and overtime.
- Teamwork oriented and willingness to guide and train others.
- High level of integrity.
- Customer oriented
