Job Summary
Our client, a premier distributor of quality pharmaceuticals and medical supplies in Uganda, is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Medical Sales Representative to join its commercial team. The successful candidate will be instrumental in expanding market share and driving sales growth within an assigned territory. This role focuses on building strong relationships with healthcare professionals, effectively promoting the company’s portfolio, and ensuring the availability of essential medical products in clinics, pharmacies, and hospitals. The ideal candidate will possess a strong blend of scientific knowledge, sales acumen, and exceptional interpersonal skills.
Key Duties and responsibilities
- Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets for the assigned territory.
- Develop and execute a strategic territory plan to identify new business opportunities and grow existing accounts.
- Conduct persuasive sales presentations and product demonstrations to doctors, pharmacists, hospital procurement officers, and other key decision-makers.
- Effectively manage the entire sales cycle from prospecting to closing.
- Build and maintain long-term, professional relationships with a network of healthcare professionals.
- Provide excellent customer service, address client inquiries, and resolve any issues promptly.
- Communicate accurate and compliant information in line with the pharmaceutical code of conduct and Ugandan regulations.
- Maintain detailed and accurate records of customer interactions, sales calls, and expenses using the company’s CRM system.
- Prepare and submit timely sales reports, market feedback, and forecasts to the Sales Manager.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy, Nursing, Medicine, Biotechnology, or a related life science field.
- A minimum of 2-3 years of proven successful experience in medical or pharmaceutical sales, preferably within the Ugandan or East African market.
- Strong understanding of the Ugandan healthcare system, pharmaceutical distribution channels, and regulatory environment.
- Proven track record in negotiation, closing deals, and territory management.
- Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills in English. Knowledge of local languages (e.g., Luganda) is a significant advantage.
- Good working knowledge of MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and experience with CRM software.
- Self-motivated, resilient, highly organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must possess integrity and a strong ethical compass.
