Background
The National Agricultural Research Organisation is established by the National Agricultural Research Act 2005 as a body corporate with the mandate to provide strategic direction for publicly funded agricultural research in Uganda. The organisation is composed of the Council as its governing body, Committees of Council, a Secretariat for its day-to-day operations with semi-autonomous Public Agricultural Research Institutes (PARI’s) under its policy guidance. The Director General invites suitably qualified Ugandans to apply for the following positions at PARIs and NARO Secretariat.
Responsibilities
- Procurement Planning: Develop and implement procurement plans aligned with institutional budgets and work plans.
- Tendering: Prepare and issue tender documents, evaluate bids, and recommend contract awards.
- Supplier Management: Identify, evaluate, and manage relationships with suppliers and contractors.
- Contract Administration: Prepare, negotiate, and manage procurement contracts in compliance with the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Act.
- Purchasing: Process purchase requisitions and orders, ensuring timely delivery of goods and services.
- Compliance: Ensure all procurement activities comply with relevant laws, regulations, and institutional policies.
- Record Keeping: Maintain accurate procurement records and documentation.
- Reporting: Prepare procurement reports for management and oversight bodies.
Tenure of Office
The tenure of office is a 5-year contract renewable upon satisfactory performance.
