SHEQ-OFFICER

Role Outline

Responsible for executing SHEQ duties to defined standards, driving continuous improvement, managing risks through formal processes, ensuring legal compliance, and overseeing all site-related safety, health, environmental, quality functions, checklists, and audits.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for adherence to HSE laws, conduct site inspections, lead accident investigations, and manage improvement action plans
  • Responsible to develop and implement Health, Safety & Environment practices, ensuring the Organization complies with current Health, Safety and Environment legislation, approved codes of practice and guidance in relation to employment and service provision.
  • Conduct investigations or support the team in doing so, into the causes and circumstances of accidents, ensuring that appropriate corrective actions are taken to prevent recurrence, and that detailed records of findings and actions are accurately maintained
  • Advice the management team on implications of current and emerging Health, Safety and Environmental legislation including making recommendations and generating action plans to ensure compliance
  • Implement the required security measures to protect the site premises, including the safety of personnel, DSC assets and of the customer's product for the required area
  • Responsible for planning, tracking, implementation, conducting assessments and reviews of Health &Safety, Management systems and Minimum Quality Standards.
  • Support Managers to maintain safe systems of work and implement best practice, including providing specialist advice, coaching and practical support as needed.
  • Liaise with suppliers based on business requirements, monitor performance and where necessary, propose improvements to line manager and implement agreed improvement actions
  • Work proactively with managers to establish and maintain customer HSE and Quality standards and respond to or escalate customer issues within clear guidelines and recommend solutions
  • Oversee day-to-day operational execution by maintaining a strong floor presence, facilitating team communication, and addressing tactical issues promptly and foster a culture of performance and engagement through feedback, recognition, and participation in CSR activities
  • Monitor and drive achievement of Quality, Health, and Safety KPIs across all sites and lead national site audits and engage directly with site managers to address performance gaps
  • Identify HSE-related employee training needs, manage associated expenditures within budget, and advise management on evolving legislation by recommending action plans to ensure continued compliance.
  • Lead and support cross-functional efforts to drive operational excellence through GEMBA walks, action plan execution, and enhanced management reporting
  • Facilitate training programs, promote sustainability initiatives such as recycling and pollution reduction, and actively engage employees in continuous improvement and environmental awareness campaigns aligned with the First-Choice methodology.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational health & safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field
  • Alteast 3 Years of practical work experience
  • NEBOSH Certificate, ISO 45001/14001/9001 Lead Auditor certification, or equivalent professional HSE qualifications
  • Additional certifications in Quality Management Systems (QMS) or risk management are often advantageous
