The Bank operates 32 branches and 110 satellite offices covering over 84 districts in Uganda, targeting Micro, Small and Medium Entrepreneurs.
Brac Uganda Bank Ltd promotes financial inclusion by extending financial services to reserved and underserved populations, especially women and youth as well as people living in poverty in rural areas. To foster the Bank’s operations, we are seeking to fill the following vacancy.
PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
Developing and implementing safeguarding policies, training staff on procedures, and managing concerns to create and maintain a safe environment, effective communication with internal and external stakeholders, and compliance with legal and organizational safeguarding standards.
MAIN JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the design, review and implementation of Safeguarding policies for Brac Uganda Bank staff, clients, volunteers, consultants, service providers and other relevant stakeholders.
- Act as the primary reporting contact person for all safeguarding violations and grievances and the key resource for survivors, ensuring safety, security and providing survivors support services with a survivor-centered approach. Maintain an online safeguarding case reporting and management platform.
- Lead the process of identifying, mapping and regularly updating local support services available to survivors across the country in all the regions and locations where Brac Uganda Bank operates.
- Conduct periodic safeguarding compliance and risk assessments and integrate safeguarding measures in Brac Uganda Bank operations with support from the Regional and Brac International Head Office Safeguarding units.
- Lead the process of building a pool of Safeguarding Champions at Branch and location to ensure compliance with Safeguarding policy. Lead timely cases management and closure of safeguarding violations and concerns, ensuring that Brac Uganda Bank meets its safeguarding obligations.
- Build staff capacity-building and awareness efforts on safeguarding through sensitizations, training, and communications bank-wide and preparing quarterly and annual reports.
- Ensure the annual safeguarding budgeting process for Brac Uganda Bank monitoring expenditure and follow-up actions.
- Ensure safety of Brac Uganda Bank staff through monitoring and implementation of the Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) provisions across all locations of the Bank.
- Monitor and support staff with medical insurance and Group Personal Accident and Group Life Assurance while ensuring timely coordination with service providers.
- Monitor and drive leave utilization to support work-life balance for all staff across the Bank.
- Design, implement and monitor physical wellness initiatives such as sports programs, health days and aerobics programs for Brac Uganda Bank staff in line with approved budget and policy.
- Design, implement and monitor mental wellness programs such as staff counseling for wellness stability and productivity of all Bank staff.
- Lead the internship program in the Safeguarding unit, providing them with effective supervision and mentoring so that they have a positive learning experience.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS
- Bachelor of Human Resources Management, Organizational Psychology or Gender & Women Studies.
- Post-Graduate Studies or master’s degree in human resource management, Organizational Psychology or Management Studies is an added advantage.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in human resource management, with 3 years in Safeguarding or Employee Relations at supervisory or middle management level.
- Prior experience in banking is an added advantage.
