Job Description:

Reports to: Area Programme Coordinator.

Purpose of the position: The Spiritual Nurture of Children Officer will facilitate the execution of the WVUS funded Spiritual Commitments Restoration (SCORE) Project in Busiriba Kahunge ADP. The role is expected to bring to life the integration of sustainable spiritual nurture of children, WV values and faith distinctives as well as Thriving families and Child Equity IPFs and SOP interventions driven by the local Church.

The purpose of the role shall specifically include:

  • Increasing access to Bibles and age-appropriate SNC material for registered children, their families and churches in Busiriba Kahunge.
  • Providing registered and other children in Busiriba Kahunge opportunities to explore and grow in their faith using various age-appropriate spiritual nurture materials and approaches.
  • Enhancing church and local actors’ capacity to support community based spiritual nurture of children interventions in a sustainable manner.

Key Result Areas:

  • Lead the mobilization and assessments of children, families, churches, and local pastors’ Bible and age-appropriate SNC material needs.
  • Support the development of local SNC material in partnership with the local churches.
  • Lead on the procurement and distribution of Bibles and other age-appropriate SNC material in the most effective and contextually appropriate ways.
  • Support the evaluation of Bible and spiritual nurture material utilization.
  • In liaison with F&D and the Busiriba Kahunge Local church structures, roll out SCORE SNC interventions as stipulated in the results framework and DIPs.
  • Roll out SCORE specific SNC targets, outputs and activities thereof through appropriate program structures using such models as EWV4C and approaches in partnership with the church and sponsorship such as holiday camps, school-based SNC Clubs, Bible studies, Parents Peer Support Bible studies etc.
  • Ensure that as much as possible the Busiriba Kahunge Thriving families and Child Equity Integrated Programming frameworks and SOP integrates SNC.
  • Support the development, procurement and distribution of Bibles and other age-appropriate SNC materials in the most effective and contextually appropriate ways.
  • Ensure that SNC and other project data/reports are readily and appropriately tracked and are available to inform learning and child wellbeing decisions.
  • Lead the SCORE church partnership mandate in Busiriba Kahunge and offer all the necessary guidance for successful, intentional and strategic partnership for SNC and child wellbeing.
  • Support the dissemination and adherence to the standard church partnership business processes and standards.
  • Support the development, nurturing, operationalization and sustenance of local church partnerships in Busiriba Kahunge for the delivery of SCORE project outcomes.
  • Maintain the SCORE project monitoring agenda by keeping track of all project outcome and output indicators.
  • Work closely with the Western Region MEAL specialist and DMEAL Officer, the Sponsorship Systems and Information Officer to ensure that SCORE data and metrics are appropriately monitored and reported.
  • Use output and outcome monitoring data to inform and improve SCORE performance.
  • Document feedback and lessons learned during implementation and stories of transformation.
  • Maintain a SCORE project risk management matrix and learning agenda.
  • Undertake any other duty as may be assigned by supervisor from time to time.
  • Participate and contribute to teams, committees and task forces appointed to.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

  • A Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Development Studies, Social Work and Social Administration, Community Development or Divinity/Theology with additional training in Development or Any Other relevant Degree with additional Theological training from a recognized institution.
  • At least 4 years experience working with International Development Organizations, Faith-Based and Christian organizations.
  • A strong Christian with a compelling personal testimony.
  • A self-starter preferably with experience in Spiritual Nurture of Children.
  • Knowledge of WV SNC models will be an added advantage.
  • Knowledge of collaborative linkages and working with Churches.
  • Skills in child spiritual nurture.
  • An interdenominational, non-partisan and accommodative Christian outlook is a MUST for this role.
  • A highly collaborative, accommodative and outgoing people person with a calm and friendly demeanor.
  • Children’s discipleship and/or MEAL training.
  • Must have proven analytical, problem-solving skills and ability to work with minimum supervision.
  • Proven ability to cultivate and nurture long-term partnerships with churches and across denominational shades.
  • Experience working with multifaceted, multi-ethnic teams will be key.
  • Fluency in English, and some Rwenzori sub-region languages such as Rukiga, Rutooro, Runyankole.
  • Must be a Practicing Christian and an ACTIVE member of the Church.
  • Must be able to Ride with a VALID riding license attached to this application.
