St. Francis Health Care Services is a nongovernmental service organization in Central Uganda which serves Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), grandmothers, youth, care and treatment of HIV positive clients, women, and adolescent girls. The organization uses various interventions such as Access to Healthcare, Economic Empowerment, Food Security, Child Protection & Youth Empowerment, and Family Strengthening to make a positive impact in the community.
Role Description
This is a full-time on-site role for a Volunteer Communications Officer located in Njeru. The Volunteer Communications and PR Officer will be responsible for writing press releases, managing media relations, and developing strategic communications plans. The officer will also be tasked with creating and disseminating communication materials, addressing public inquiries, and enhancing the organization's visibility through various communication channels. Digital communications & social media management (Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, etc.) Content creation & storytelling (video, infographics, short reels, etc.) Basic graphic design skills (Canva, Photoshop, Illustrator) Website & blog management (WordPress, SEO, content strategy) Data & analytics (tracking reach, engagement, campaign performance) Crisis communication & reputation management (especially important for healthcare organizations after COVID-19).
Qualifications
- Press Releases, Writing, and Communication skills
- Strategic Communications and Media Relations skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Experience in the healthcare or non-governmental sector is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
