Background
Kai Bar and Restaurant is an upcoming, high-end bar and restaurant located in Ntinda, Minister's Village.
On behalf of Kai Bar & Restaurant, we are seeking skilled, energetic, and customer-focused Bartenders to join its team. This role is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality beverages, delivering exceptional customer service, maintaining bar operations, and creating a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for guests.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for hospitality, strong beverage knowledge, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining the highest standards of service, hygiene, and responsible alcohol service.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and quality standards.
- Welcome guests warmly and provide exceptional customer service at all times.
- Recommend beverages, cocktails, wines, spirits, and food pairings based on guest preferences.
- Maintain thorough knowledge of the beverage menu, promotions, and daily specials.
- Ensure all drinks are prepared consistently, accurately, and presented to a high standard.
- Monitor guest consumption and adhere to responsible alcohol service practices.
- Verify legal drinking age requirements and refuse service where necessary in accordance with company policies and regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and presentation of the bar area throughout service.
- Monitor stock levels and notify management of low stock, breakages, or supply shortages.
- Assist with inventory counts, stock rotation, and proper storage of beverages and bar supplies.
- Operate POS systems accurately and process guest orders in a timely manner.
- Ensure glassware, bar equipment, garnishes, and supplies are adequately stocked and prepared before and during service.
- Handle guest complaints or concerns professionally and escalate issues when required.
- Follow all health, safety, hygiene, and sanitation standards.
- Collaborate closely with wait staff, supervisors, and kitchen teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
- Assist with opening and closing procedures, including cleaning, stock checks, and securing the bar area.
Requirements
- Previous experience as a bartender in a bar, restaurant, hotel, lounge, or similar hospitality environment.
- Strong knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, beers, and beverage preparation techniques.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Experience using POS systems and electronic payment platforms is an added advantage.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality service.
- Professional appearance, positive attitude, and excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment.
- Knowledge of responsible alcohol service practices and hospitality standards.
- Hospitality, bartending, or mixology certification is an added advantage.
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
