The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries (MAAIF) with support from World Bank is implementing the Uganda Climate Smart Agriculture Transformation Project (UCSATP) for a period of six years in 69 districts including 7 refugee hosting districts. The project aims to increase productivity, market access and resilience to selected value chains in the project area and to respond promptly and effectively to an eligible crisis or emergency.
UCSATP supports investments and interventions across the agricultural value chains of Crop; coffee, cocoa, citrus, mangoes, Hass avocado, cashew nut, vegetables, cassava, maize, sorghum, soybeans, Livestock (Dairy, beef, commercial pigs, goats, sheep, poultry & Artificial Insemination). Fisheries (Aquaculture and capture fisheries) and beneficial insects (Bees and Black soldier fly).
For effective implementation, the project prioritizes partnership with the various stakeholders to ensure timely achievement of the key project targets. Since its effectiveness, the UCSATP has engaged a number of stakeholders with the aim of sensitizing them about their respective roles in the project implementation and success. Similarly, the project has planned to engage with the private sector actors in line with the project implementation strategy from 22nd to 25th July 2025 with the purpose of: (1) Outlining strategic opportunities for private sector engagement in the UCSATP; (2) Identifying potential areas for investment and partnership with government and the private sector in the provision of inputs to the farmer groups and; (3) Promoting inclusive growth and sustainability through private sector participation. The engagements will focus on the key inputs and technologies under each of the value chains.
Private sector participants will include: Agro-Input dealers, Nursery operators, Breeding services operators (AI service providers), Animal seed providers (heifers, breeding bulls, poultry, piggery), Pasture seed and fodder planting material dealers, Fish Hatchery Operators, Fish feed operators, Apiary and black soldier fly dealers, Insurance and Financial Services providers, Technical advisory service partners and Post-harvest and value addition equipment providers.
The Ministry therefore invites the private sector to participate in the dialogue aimed at building a sustainable agricultural input delivery system. The event will be online https://cgan.us/webinar/registr/why_EG1mJnprS2SEZFykjts5vG8t. The dates for the engagements are outlined below:
