  • We are currently implementing a program in Uganda to protect widows and orphans from the devastation of predatory eviction with plans to expand our defense of the vulnerable into other countries in the future.
    • As a Redeem Data Officer, you will collect and manage the data necessary to measure the impact of Redeem intervention on the lives of widows and orphans in your assigned project area. Specific responsibilities include:

Program Evaluation (80%)
• Leading the implementation of Redeem's impact evaluation strategy for your assigned casework team:
• Liaising with local council leaders and other authorities to identify individual widows to be surveyed;
• Conducting surveys to determine the prevalence of property grabbing victimization among sampled widows;
• Collecting relevant data about survey participants (demographics, marital status, land ownership, abuse, etc.);
• Ensuring that all data collected meets Redeem’s quality standards and is provided in a timely manner;
• Entering collected data into appropriate databases to inform program improvement and decision making;
• Ensuring survey participants are properly referred to Redeem for potential case intake as Redeem clients;
• Collaborating with team to ensure that referrals are appropriately assessed and communicated with; and
• Supporting data collection efforts in other Redeem project areas as needed.

Performance Monitoring (10%)
• Conducting focus group discussions to measure deterrence within communities;
• Conducting data collection for additional non-casework program indicators as required;
• Partnering with the Casework Admin in analyzing and monitoring the quality of performance data;
• Providing updates and analysis to the Team Lead and Director of M&E on performance data as requested;
• Ensuring functionality and team use of the M&E system; and
• Responding to ad-hoc data requests as needed.

Miscellaneous (10%)
• Communicating with donors, supporters, media and other outside parties about Redeem’s work;
• Contributing to the review and design of organizational systems, guidelines and policies;
• Participating in Redeem’s professional development and spiritual formation activities;
• Supporting other teams within Redeem in the achievement of their objectives;
• Performing clerical duties (photocopying, filing, posting, errands, etc.) as needed, and
• Completing other duties as assigned.

  • The Data Officer will report to the Director of Monitoring & Evaluation with dotted line reporting to the Team Lead. The position will be based in Mubende with occasional travel to Kampala and other districts of operation.

• Required: A degree in statistics, population studies, economics, development studies or related discipline;
• Required: At least three years professional experience in M&E, research and data management.
• Required: Experience with conducting surveys and data collection;
• Preferred: Experience in qualitative research;
• Preferred: Experience in using electronic data collection applications( ODK, Kobo collect etc);
• Preferred: Experience using cloud-based data collection tools, platforms and systems; and
• Preferred: Experience working in start-up, international, matrixed and/or faith-based organizations;

Skills
• Required: Fluency in English and Luganda with excellent written and oral communication in both;
• Required: Data management with impeccable attention to accuracy and detail;
• Required: Computer literacy with strong capacity in word processing, email and other systems; and
• Preferred: Understanding of Google business suite and digital project management tools.
