Background
The Ministry of Health (MoH) received funding from the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria (GFATM) as well as build strong, resilient systems for health to tackle current and new emerging threats. The Ministry of Health therefore seeks to invite suitably qualified Candidates to fill positions on the Global Fund Program. The summary of the positions is as indicated below. Job Purpose
The Data Scientist serves as the technical officer for enterprise-level data science analytics and forecasting. You will ensure data-driven decision-making for public health initiatives across the health sector by providing insights and supporting data engineering and management efforts.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate must hold Applicants should be Ugandans holding:
- An Honours Bachelor Degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Science, Software engineering and Computer Engineering, Information Security, Business Computing, Statistics, Telecom engineering, electrical engineering or Science (with focus on computer science, mathematics).
- A Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Epidemiology, Statistics, Mathematics, Biostatistics, or Public Health Informatics or related field from a recognized University/Institution.
Experience
- At least 6-years of working experience as in Government or, an equivalent level of Data Scientist, health statistics work experience from a reputable organization. Three (3) of which must demonstrate working in data science specific roles.
- National level Experience in digital health and information systems, especially in national scale deployment and maintaining digital health and health information systems plus experience in donor funded projects and public sector is an added advantage.
- An Honours Bachelor Degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Data Science, Software engineering and Computer Engineering, Information Security, Business Computing, Statistics, Telecom engineering, electrical engineering or Science (with focus on computer science, mathematics).
- A Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Epidemiology, Statistics, Mathematics, Biostatistics, or Public Health Informatics or related field from a recognized University/Institution.

Box 7272, Plot 6, Lourdel Road, Wandegeya, KAMPALA (and should be hand delivered to Ministry of Health Headquarters Security Registry in Room A.102, between 8.00 am — 5.00 pm working days) to be received not later than Tuesday 31st March 2026.
