Job Purpose
To support the Bureau in collecting, managing, analyzing, and interpreting complex datasets, and applying data science techniques to generate actionable insights, enhance service delivery, and guide evidence-based decision-making.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
-
- Collecting, cleaning, and organizing large datasets from both internal and external sources to ensure data quality and usability.
- Conducting exploratory data analysis to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies for business process improvement.
- Developing and applying statistical models and machine learning algorithms to address operational and strategic issues.
- Designing and generating regular and ad hoc reports and dashboards to communicate data insights effectively.
- Assisting in the development of predictive and prescriptive analytics to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Working collaboratively with departments to assess data needs and providing technical support for analytics initiatives.
- Supporting the integration of data science solutions into operational systems and monitoring their performance.
- Promoting data quality, security, and compliance with the Uganda Data Protection and Privacy Act.
- Maintaining accurate, confidential, and up-to-date records of datasets, models, and analytical reports.
- Participating in capacity-building efforts to enhance data literacy and analytics competencies within the Bureau.
Person Specifications
Academic Qualifications
-
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, or Statistics with a focus on Statistical Computing.
- A postgraduate qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, or Data Science is an added advantage
Work Experience
-
- Practical experience in data science and managing large datasets within a reputable organization.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Key Competencies

- Proficiency in programming languages
- Experience with big data tools and frameworks
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities.
- Ability to maintain accurate and confidential records.
- Team player with strong interpersonal skills
