Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Finance Trainee to support the Finance and Accounts department. The trainee will assist in handling daily financial operations, data entry, reconciliation, and documentation under close supervision. This role provides hands-on training in accounting practices, payroll management, and compliance procedures within a professional service environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the recording of daily financial transactions (payments, receipts, invoices).
- Assist in filing and organizing supporting documents and payment records.
- Update accounting spreadsheets and digital records as guided.
- Help prepare receipts, invoices, and petty cash summaries.
- Assist in reconciling company bank statements and expense records.
- Monitor and report small discrepancies to the Finance Officer.
- Assist in preparing monthly payroll support documents.
- Work with HR to update staff and casual worker payment records.
- Help track statutory deductions (PAYE, NSSF) for internal learning and reporting purposes.
- Learn and assist in preparing documentation for tax filings and returns.
- Support the compilation of audit and compliance reports.
- Maintain confidentiality and accuracy in handling financial data.
- Assist in preparing simple financial summaries and weekly cash flow updates.
- Support budget tracking activities for ongoing projects or departments.
- Participate in financial review meetings and learn from reporting processes.
Qualifications & Skills
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (recent graduate or awaiting graduation).
- Basic knowledge of accounting principles and financial documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; familiarity with QuickBooks or Tally is an added advantage.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and integrity.
- Eagerness to learn and work collaboratively in a professional environment.
