Position Code: IQA - 1125
Reports to: Unit Quality Manager
Department: Risk, Quality, Health and Safety
Station: Entebbe
Job Purpose
The position holder will monitor and execute risk Quality, Risk, Health and Safety Management System engagements and make recommendations for the management of new and existing risks.
Responsibilities or duties
1. Principle Roles and responsibilities.
- Audit planning: Designing and managing the audit process, including defining the scope, objectives, and schedule;
- Evidence gathering: Collecting and verifying information through observation, reviewing documents and records, and interviewing employees;
- Evaluation: Assessing the effectiveness of management systems, policies, and procedures against a specific set of criteria, such as ISO standards, legal requirements;
- Reporting: Documenting and presenting clear, factual audit findings, including nonconformities and areas for improvement, to the relevant stakeholders;
- Continuous improvement: Promoting and supporting a culture of ongoing enhancement in quality, risk, and safety practices;
- Risk Management: support service departments in risk identification, assessment and management.
2. LSHTM Integration.
- Engaging positively and collaboratively with colleagues at the sister Unit in The Gambia, sharing knowledge, documents and experiences as needed, and;
- Engaging constructively with departments across all LSHTM locations, as needed.
3. Environment.
- Participate in carbon emission reduction activities across the Unit and wider LSHTM, and;
- Act as an advocate for the responsible and efficient use of resources.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Person Specification
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent or substantial relevant experience;
- Additional training in Safety or Audit or Risk Management;
- Masters from a recognized University or institution is an advantage;
- Professional qualification in risk, quality, health and safety or Audit obtained from a recognized Institution/body is a plus;
- Should possess Good knowledge of the risk based auditing approach;
- General knowledge in occupational health and safety;
- Ability to convey clear, concise information and offer constructive feedback;
- Confidence in directing and supporting teams;
- Excellent Communication skills;
- Critical thinking and Attention to detail;
- Problem solving skills;
- Independence and Ability to learn;
- Decision making;
- Reliability and;
- Openness.
Experience needed
- Should possess at least two years’ experience in Quality auditing;
- Experience in Risk identification, assessment and management;
- Experience in CAPA design and follow up;
- Experience in implementing ISO standards;
