Job Purpose
The Consultant Paediatrician is responsible for providing high-quality, evidence-based medical care to neonates, infants and children in a fast-paced, high-volume hospital environment. The role includes inpatient and outpatient care, emergency paediatric management, neonatal support, participation in multidisciplinary care teams, and leadership in clinical quality improvement, while contributing to teaching, mentorship, and service development in a high-volume tertiary hospital.
He/she should possess a combination of strong clinical expertise with teaching ability, leadership skills, and a commitment to continuous improvement in a fast-paced private healthcare environment offering evidence-based paediatric care. He/she should have good communication skills.
Work Environment & Scope
- High-volume paediatric and neonatal unit
- Resource-limited setting requiring prioritization and adaptability
- Case mix includes infectious diseases, malnutrition, neonatal conditions, and paediatric emergencies
- Multidisciplinary collaboration with nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, and allied health teams
Key Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Provide comprehensive paediatric care (inpatient, outpatient, and emergency).
- Conduct ward rounds and manage paediatric and neonatal cases.
- Stabilize and manage critically ill children, including resuscitation.
- Ensure accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up.
- Ensure accurate documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and outcomes.
- Provide outpatient consultations and follow-up care.
- Provide comprehensive paediatric care (inpatient, outpatient, and emergency).
- Conduct ward rounds and manage paediatric and neonatal cases.
- Stabilize and manage critically ill children, including resuscitation.
- Ensure accurate diagnosis, treatment planning, and follow-up.
