JOB PURPOSE:
PARTICIPATE IN THE EXECUTION OF UNOC'S CRUDE OIL MARKETING $ TRADING $ LEAD THE LIFTING OPERATIONAL ACTIVITIES, ENSURING THE DELIVERY OF ROBUST ARRANGEMENTS TO OPTIMISE REVENUE, AND TO EFFECT LIFTINGS AS SCHEDULED, WITHIN THE UNOC ,MANDATE AND APPROVED STRATEGY.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Under the direction of the Manager Crude Oil Marketing and Trading, execute crude oil sales and trading transactions on terms that are robust in addressing key risks such as payment, performance, compliance and contract terms and as previously approved by functional experts and senior management.
- Gather and leverage available market information and use available decision support resources to provide input to marketing and trading decisions.
- Support the lifting operations activities, liaising with the Cargo and Scheduling team to ensure entitlements are communicated on a timely basis and that liftings take place in accordance with sales contract terms and lifting agreement schedules and provisions.
- Lead the handling of post-lifting claims for demurrage, quantity or quality, liaising with the terminal operator on their acceptance and payment.
- Foster excellent and effective working relationships with any third party marketers, customers and potential customers for UNOC crude oil, working to ensure open lines for business taking into account UNOC and customer KYC requirements and understanding customer business drivers and preferences.
- Foster excellent and effective working relationships with terminal offtake coordinator and JV partner liftings representatives for operations in accordance with the lifting agreement and terminal manual
- Any other duties as may be assigned by line supervisors from time to time
Job Qualifications
At least a Bachelor's Degree (Hons) in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, Energy, Petroleum Geosciences or any other relevant degree from a recognized University
Knowledge and Experience
- Must have at least six (6) years working experience in the oil and gas sector, including at least three (3) years in crude oil marketing and trading, preferably with significant exposure to marine tankers and oil lifting operations
- Good working knowledge and experience of crude oil cargo markets and sales is required
- Good working knowledge and experience of purchase contracts and lifting agreements is an added advantage
- Demonstrable understanding of the E&P business lifecycle, especially in development and production phases is an added advantage
Character & Competencies
- Commercially astute, possess solid negotiation skills and ability to make sound and quick commercial decisions
- High levels of emotional intelligence
- High degree of numeracy, initiative and ability to work with limited supervision.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Should possess a record of impeccable integrity
- Proficiency with MS Word, Excel and Powerpoint to effectively perform the role
