Job Title:Principal Education Officer - Secondary School Education
Ref. No. : HRM 48/185/ 01 Vol.131 (3)
Salary Scale : U2

Reports To : Assistant Commissioner - Secondary TETD

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the leadership and management of the STE division and in the overall implementation of the policy initiatives, programmes, and strategies in respect of Secondary Teacher Education.
  • Participating in designing, developing and regularly reviewing Secondary Teacher Education Curriculum and Assessment in liaison with the National Curriculum Development Centre, UNITE and UNEB.
  • Identifying and analysing training and development of programme needs
  • Administering training and staff development programmes for the Secondary Teacher Institution staff
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by Assistant Commissioner, Secondary Teacher Education or any other higher authorities

Competencies

  • Demonstrated ability in: Planning, organizing and coordinating policy and Strategy reviews, formulation and development; establishing and maintain strategic alliances and collaboration mechanisms; leadership, teamwork and networking; Negotiations and Communicating effectively.
  • Exposure and understanding/appreciation of issues of Technical Education management and development.
  • Incumbent should be of high morals and integrity.

Qualifications and Work Experience

  • A minimum of an Honor's Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education in Secondary from a recognized University /Institution.
  • Any other relevant professional qualifications will be an added advantage
  • Registered as teacher with the Ministry of Education and Sports.
  • A Minimum of Six (6) years working experience, three (3) of which should have been at the level of Senior Education Officer, Scale U3.
