Job Description
Operate and maintain the reverse osmosis water treatment system to ensure consistent delivery of compliant, high quality process water.
Monitor filtration parameters, perform routine maintenance, and protect membrane integrity through systematic operational controls.
Support regulatory compliance and operational continuity by upholding strict safety, hygiene, and traceability standards.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitor reverse osmosis membrane pressure differentials and total dissolved solids (TDS) to safeguard water quality and system efficiency.
- Conduct chemical backwashing, membrane flushing, and clean in place procedures in accordance with approved safety and quality standards.
- Perform pump pressure adjustments, routine alignments, calibrations, and inspections to maintain proper operating conditions.
- Apply safe isolation procedures, test before touch protocols, and pressure release controls prior to conducting intrusive mechanical or electrical maintenance.
- Diagnose equipment abnormalities, wear, vibration, leakage, and fault codes to carry out effective preventive and corrective repairs.
- Coordinate equipment handovers with operations, verifying that safety guards, connections, and operating settings are restored before restart.
- Maintain complete, legible, and traceable shift logs, water test readings, machine settings, and maintenance checklists for audit retrieval.
- Escalate process deviations, equipment failures, safety hazards, and suspected product contamination risks immediately to designated supervisors.

Education Qualifications & Experience
Education Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree, Higher Diploma, Ordinary Diploma, or National Diploma in Water Engineering, Chemical Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Automation and Control, Instrumentation, Plant Maintenance, Civil or Building Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
National Certificate, Craft Certificate, trade certificate, or recognized apprenticeship, including UBTEB and TVET qualifications, in Mechanical Fitting, Plumbing, Welding and Fabrication, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Automotive Engineering, Marine Engineering, or related technical trade.
Any mandatory statutory credential, ERB/UPE registration, ERA licensing, boiler operator licence, or electrical installation permit where required by Ugandan regulatory standards.
Experience
No prior work experience required.
Includes one month of specialized reverse osmosis system training.
