Job Description

Job Title: Sales Manager – Waterproofing and Industrial Flooring

Location: Kampala, Uganda

Reporting to: General Manager / Country Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced and commercially driven Sales Manager to lead the growth of the companies Waterproofing and Industrial Flooring business in Uganda. The role will focus on developing project-based sales across infrastructure, commercial, industrial, manufacturing, residential, and institutional sectors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for generating specifications, developing strategic relationships with consultants and contractors, identifying project opportunities, and driving sales of waterproofing systems, resin flooring solutions, protective coatings, sealants and related construction chemical technologies.

This role requires a strong balance of technical understanding, commercial capability, and market development experience within the construction and industrial sectors.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Project Sales

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities in waterproofing and industrial flooring markets
  • Build a strong pipeline of projects across industrial plants, warehouses, food & beverage facilities, hospitals, commercial buildings, infrastructure and residential developments.
  • Track major construction projects, tenders, consultants, and contractor activities throughout Uganda.
  • Drive specification selling and secure product approvals with consultants, architects, engineers and developers.
  • Develop relationships with EPC contractors, main contractors, applicators, industrial clients, and government stakeholders.

Waterproofing & Flooring Market Development

  • Promote the companies waterproofing systems including roofs, basements, wet areas, podium decks, water-retaining structures, and below-ground waterproofing applications
  • Develop the industrial flooring business including epoxy, polyurethane, cementitious, and protective flooring systems
  • Identify opportunities within manufacturing, logistics, pharmaceutical, food processing, hospitality, health care, and commercial sectors
  • Support the development of approved applicator networks for waterproofing and flooring systems
  • Work closely with contractors and applicators to ensure correct system selection and successful project execution.

Specification & Technical Promotion

  • Conduct technical presentations, CPD seminars, and product demonstrations for consultants, architects, engineers, and clients
  • Ensure MC systems are specified in project BOQ’s, tender documents, and consultant specifications.
  • Provide solution-based recommendations tailored to project requirements and site conditions
  • Coordinate mock-ups, site trials, and technical approvals, with the technical service team
  • Support customers with technical advice regarding substrate preparation, system selection, and application methods.

Commercial & Tender management

  • Monitor project tenders and coordinate submission requirements
  • Prepare quotations, commercial proposals, and project pricing strategies
  • Negotiate commercial terms with contractors, developers, procurement teams, and industrial customers
  • Ensure profitability targets and sales margins are maintained
  • Follow up aggressively on quotations and project opportunities to secure orders

Key Account Management

  • Manage strategic customer relationships and develop long-term partnerships.
  • Serve as the primary contact point for major contractors, developers, consultants, industrial clients, and applicators.
  • Maintain strong customer engagement throughout project cycles from specification through execution and after-sales support
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and repeat business generation

Coordination & Internal Collaboration

  • Work closely with technical, logistics, finance, and operations teams to ensure successful project delivery
  • Coordinate product availability and delivery schedules with applicators / distributors and supply chain teams
  • Support training and development initiatives for applicators and distributors
  • Assist in market launch activities for new products and systems

Market Intelligence & Reporting

  • Monitor competitor activities, market pricing, and project movements
  • Provide regular sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and market intelligence reports
  • Analise market trends and identify opportunities for expansion within Uganda and neighbouring countries
  • Recommend strategies for increasing market penetration and brand visibility

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Business, Marketing, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years experience in construction chemicals, waterproofing, industrial flooring, coatings, or related building materials industries.
  • Strong understanding of waterproofing systems and resin flooring technologies.
  • Proven experience in project sales and specification selling
  • Strong network within contractors, consultants, architects, developers, and industrial sectors in Uganda
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and presentations skills.
  • Strong commercial awareness and ability to manage long sales cycles
  • Ability to work independently and drive market development initiatives
  • Willingness to travel extensively across Uganda

  • Experience working with international construction chemical brands
  • Technical understanding of epoxy, polyurethane, cementitious flooring, and waterproofing technologies
