Rukundo Preparatory School is looking for a caring and responsible School Nurse / Health Support Officer to join our team and support the health, safety, and wellbeing of our learners.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide basic medical care and first aid to learners.
- Monitor learners’ health and refer serious cases to a health facility.
- Maintain simple health records for each learner.
- Support hygiene routines in dormitories, bathrooms, and classrooms.
- Respond to accidents or emergencies and report to the Head Teacher.
- Work closely with teachers and boarding staff to ensure learners are safe and well.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience:
- Certificate in Comprehensive Nursing
- Must be a Registered Nurse (RN) with the Uganda Nurses & Midwives Council (UNMC) and hold a valid practicing license.
- Ability to read and write; basic health training or experience is a plus.
- Experience in child care, first aid, or school health is an advantage.
- Knowledge of hygiene and safety practices is helpful.
Personal Attributes:
- Caring, patient, and responsible.
- Strong interpersonal, empathy, and customer care skills, with the ability to work with children.
- Able to remain calm in emergencies.
- Trustworthy and able to maintain confidentiality.
- Willing to live or work full-time on school premises.
- Does NOT drink alcohol or use any other intoxicating substances
- Able to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Willing to uphold the core values of Rukundo Preparatory School.
- Committed to protecting and safeguarding children
