Reports To : Principal Education Officer - Inclusive Education

Duties and Responsibilities

• Providing technical support and guidance on the implementation of the policies, plans and guidelines on the provisions of Special Needs Education in schools and training institutions.
• Participating in monitoring and evaluating the implementation of Special Education plans and programmes in schools and training institutions.
• Participating in the development and dissemination of instructional materials for teachers /instructors and learners for Special Needs Education.
• Liaising with relevant departments, agencies and other stake holders on the development and promotion of Special Needs Education and training in the country.
• Participating in capacity building initiatives for facilitators, teachers/instructors and education managers at Local Government and national levels for development and promotion of Special Needs Education and training.
• Participating in the preparation of reports in respect of Special Needs Education and training at Local Government and National levels.
• Updating the data bank on Special Needs Education students in schools and institutions in the country.
• Carrying out any other duties as may be assigned by the relevant authority.

Competencies

• Demonstrated ability in: Planning, organizing and coordinating policy and Strategy reviews, formulation and development; establishing and maintain strategic alliances and collaboration mechanisms; leadership, teamwork and networking; Negotiations and Communicating effectively.
• Exposure and understanding/appreciation of issues of Technical Education management and development.
• Incumbent should be of high morals and integrity.

Qualifications and Work Experience

Either;

• An Honor's Bachelor's degree in Special Needs Education; OR;Bachelors of Education plus a Diploma in Special Needs Education from a recognized University / Institution.
• Registered as teacher with the Ministry of Education and Sports.
• A Minimum of three (3) years working experience at the level of Education Officer in a recognized institution of learners with Special Needs.

Experience in Months: 36

Level of Education: bachelor degree
