AVSI Foundation is a not-for-profit, non-governmental humanitarian and development organization, founded in Italy in 1972 with a mission to promote the dignity of the person through development cooperation activities. AVSI Foundation began operations in northern Uganda in 1964, with its interventions now reacting all the regions of Uganda, focusing on education, economic empowerment and livelihoods, health, disability, HIV and AIDS, nutrition, child protection, energy, humanitarian emergencies, sanitation and hygiene. AVSI Foundation remained a direct supporter of communities and partner organizations throughout the two-decade civil conflict in the northern region of the country, demonstrating commitment and capacity to adapt to volatile circumstances. Today, through public private partnerships, AVSI Foundation engages with private sector players, government and communities to build capacity of children, youth and households across Uganda through a comprehensive family-centered approach that builds resilience and contributes to sustainable development, responding to the real needs of people.
Connecting Youth to Gainful Employment (“X-Connect”) is a 25 month project (December 2024 – December 2026) funded by the Embassy of the Kingdom Netherlands and implemented by AVSI Foundation in Nakhvale Settlement, Isingiro District. The project aims to improve the income of 1,700 refugee and host community youth in Nakhvale Refugee Settlement, Isingiro District in agribusiness using a multisectoral approach. This project will provide skilling to 1,000 youth Not in Employment Education and Training (NEET) and 600 youth in secondary schools over a period of 24 months. The project integrates a Randomized Control Unit (RCT) in which an additional 100 youth will be provided with start-up capital only (with no skills or mentorship provided) to research the effectiveness of skilling and mentorship in increasing employment and incomes.

CODE OF ETHICS ACCEPTANCE CLAUSE
The Code of Ethics is an official AVSI Foundation document, approved by the Board of Directors, which contains principles and rules of conduct to be followed by anyone who works or deals with the Foundation, including suppliers and consultant.
