About the Role
A fast-growing regional business conglomerate in Uganda’s manufacturing and food & beverage sectors is looking for a strategic, hands-on Group CFO / Financial Controller to lead the financial function and partner with senior leadership across various businesses. This role is based in Kampala and is ideal for an individual with strong operational and strategic finance capabilities, capable of leading in multi-entity, cross-border environments.
Key Responsibilities
• Lead financial governance and stewardship across group companies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals
• Develop and implement group-wide financial policies, controls, and systems
• Manage the preparation of accurate financial statements, board reports, and dashboards across business units
• Drive annual budgeting, long-term financial forecasting, and resource planning
• Ensure tax planning, compliance, and reporting are executed efficiently and with zero tolerance for error
• Build, train, and oversee finance teams in Kampala and across group locations
• Serve as key liaison with financial institutions, investors, auditors, and regulatory bodies
• Enable strategic projects including digital transformation, automation of financial processes, and ERP optimization
• Advise on strategic business decisions, expansion initiatives, and new product rollouts from a financial perspective
Qualifications and Experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field; MBA and CPA/ACCA/CFA certification highly preferred
• At least 10 years in senior finance roles, preferably with exposure to manufacturing or FMCG businesses
• Strong understanding of Uganda’s regulatory and fiscal environment; regional exposure (East/Central Africa) a bonus
• Prior experience working with multicultural teams and managing across borders
• Strong leadership presence, integrity, and hands-on problem-solving capabilities
• Sound grasp of modern accounting systems and digital finance tools
