Detailed Job Description

Program Coordination Support

  • Support the Coordinator of Conservation Education in planning, organizing, and implementing program activities across all KFSP partner schools and their surrounding communities.
  • Assist in coordinating Wildlife Club activities, school visits, and education sessions.
  • Help ensure that all program activities follow established schedules and quality standards.

Curriculum & Activity Delivery

  • Facilitate Wildlife Club meetings and classroom sessions using KFSP’s conservation curriculum.
  • Assist in preparing lesson plans, teaching materials, and learning aids.
  • Support hands-on conservation activities that include but are not limited to: tree planting, clean-ups, wildlife management, environmental demonstrations, and practical skills sessions.

Educational Outreach & Events

  • Support the organization and delivery of school-based outreaches, training workshops, and awareness events.
  • Assist in coordinating logistics for educational wildlife activities, tours, and accompanying pupils and teachers during field trips.
  • Help engage teachers (especially Wildlife Club patrons) to strengthen their involvement in program activities.

Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Collect, enter, and organize attendance and assessment data, activity reports, photos, and pupil and teacher feedback.
  • Use M&E tools provided by the program to track progress and outcomes.
  • Assist the Coordinator in compiling weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Help maintain regular communication with school administrators, teachers, and partners.
  • Support the Coordinator in stakeholder meetings and community engagement events.

Logistics & Resource Management

  • Prepare, organise, and track materials, equipment, and supplies needed for school activities.
  • Ensure proper care, storage, and use of program equipment.
  • Keep documentation, files, and databases organized and up to date.

Administrative Duties

  • Assist in scheduling school visits, updating calendars, and maintaining communication channels.
  • Support the writing, editing, and formatting of draft reports, forms, and templates, and activity documentation.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Perform any other duties assigned by the Coordinator, Director, or relevant KFSP management team members in support of program goals.

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, Education, Natural Resource Management, Social Sciences, or a related field.

Experience

  • At least 3–5 years in conservation, education, community engagement, or similar work.
  • Experience delivering or supporting school programs or youth activities is highly desirable.
  • Basic experience with monitoring, evaluation, or data collection.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong communication skills in English and Runyakitara.
  • Ability to engage and facilitate sessions with children and teachers.
  • Good organizational and time-management skills.
  • Competence in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic data tools.
  • Ability to work effectively in rural settings and travel frequently.
  • High level of integrity, maturity, and strong work ethic.
