JOB PURPOSE:

The Assistant Sales & Marketing Manager is responsible for supporting the development and implementation of MHS’s sales, marketing, and distribution strategies, contributing to the success of MHS by ensuring that income from sales is in line with the targets articulated in the strategic plan. In addition, he/she assists in the sales operations and facilitates effective and efficient acquisition and retention of customers by providing a wide range of quality products.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Assist in the development of a Sales and Distribution strategy and plan that supports the overall company strategy and receives Management and Board approval; participate in the preparation of forecasts to guide the process and highlight the cash cows to production.
    2. Advise the Sales Manager and Management on improvements and changes in sales strategies and and programs.
    3. Assist in the management of outlets efficiently and effectively (right staff, right products ) to achieve economic viability; develop creative techniques and tactics to meet business goals.
    4. Participate in the development and implementation of an effective distribution strategy so that the most effective distribution interventions are in place and all aspects of distribution are efficiently managed; assist in the development of a blueprint for the selection and remuneration of agencies all across the country and identification of distributors, managing their performance/contracts.
    5. Advise the Sales Manager on the development of a strategic-level collaborative partnership that will maximize and add value to the growth of the business while mitigating the risk and exposure to the organization.
    6. Participate in researching trends and policies in domestic and international markets to better understand and explore opportunities within these
    7. In liaison with the Sales & Marketing Manager, review research trends and advise on product enhancements, new products, and new markets (for purposes of enhancing sales and identifying distribution markets).
    8. Stay updated on best practices in sales, to apply the latest, evidence-based strategies and ideas to departmental plans; prepare sales reports and submit findings to the Head of Department.
    9. Participate in the development of effective pricing strategies and incentive schemes; participate in setting sales targets.
    10. Participate in national, regional, and international conferences and trade shows, showcasing the company’s products and being able and clearly explain the products to potential customers.

      • Supporting the development of sales plans that ensure goals and objectives outlined in MHS’s strategic plan are achieved.
      • Assist Sales Officers to develop creative strategies for penetration of their target market segments.
      • Assist in the implementation of strategic plans and ensure effective roll-out and management.
    2. Assist in the development of the budget for the Sales department; ensure that plans and resources are matched and priorities for expenditure identified.
    3. Support the Sales Manager in ensuring that all financial transactions managed by the Sales department are carried out in accordance with MHS’s policies and procedures; ensure proper management of revenue and sales costs for all sales operations that result in profitability
    4. Prepare accurate, timely, and analytical sales reports (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual); follow up on any issues raised during audits when
    5. Support Sales Officers in a comprehensive analysis of customer requirements/needs so that they can fully understand the psychology of buyers and decision-making triggers.
    6. Prepare and submit to the Sales Manager periodic progress reports that support decision-making.
    7. Preparing Standard operating procedures for the department and ensuring compliance.
    8. Participate in tender/ bid proposal or documentation
    9. Participate in financial and quality Audits, both internal and external, and ensure compliance in the department.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

  1. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration (Marketing Option), Bachelor of Commerce (Marketing Option), or any other relevant field. Certification in Marketing is preferable.
  2. Minimum 5-7 years relevant experience managing sales and marketing in a big corporation dealing in medical supplies
  3. Knowledge of the local and international sales systems is an added advantage.
