Job Summary
The Biomedical Technician will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, calibration, and safe operation of all medical equipment at C-Care IMC facilities, ensuring optimal functionality, regulatory compliance, and uninterrupted clinical service delivery
Job Details
Medical Equipment Management
- Install, inspect, test, and commission new medical equipment.
- Perform routine preventive maintenance and corrective repairs on biomedical equipment.
- Ensure timely calibration and performance verification of clinical devices.
- Maintain accurate equipment service records, logs, and inventory registers.
Clinical & Operational Support
- Provide technical support to clinicians and nursing staff on proper equipment usage.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency technical issues.
- Participate in procurement processes by evaluating technical specifications of medical equipment.
- Advise management on equipment lifecycle, upgrades, and replacements.
Patient & Staff Safety
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and manufacturer guidelines.
- Conduct routine equipment safety checks and risk assessments.
- Investigate equipment-related incidents and recommend corrective actions.
Quality, Safety & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Health, ISO, and hospital safety standards.
- Conduct regular equipment safety checks and risk assessments.
- Support infection prevention by ensuring proper equipment cleaning and handling protocols.
- Participate in audits, inspections, and accreditation processes.
Training & Capacity Building
- Train healthcare staff on safe and effective use of biomedical equipment.
- Develop and update user manuals, SOPs, and maintenance guidelines.
- Mentor junior technical staff where applicable.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering or a related engineering field.
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a hospital or clinical setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical devices such as patient monitors, ventilators, imaging equipment, laboratory analyzers, and theatre equipment.
- Experience working in private healthcare settings is an added advantage.
