Job Purpose

The Business and Investment Analyst is responsible for conducting in-depth analysis of investment requests and market opportunities in Uganda. The role provides critical insights on market trends, risks, and financial implications to support informed decision-making by management and regional leadership

Responsibilities

  • Analyze investment requests including memos, business plans, quotations, and supporting documents.
  • Conduct comprehensive market analysis covering competition, regulatory frameworks, taxation, financial data, and overall business environment.
  • Evaluate project risks and provide timely alerts and recommendations to management.
  • Prepare business plans, retro-planning schedules, and full project reports/ analyses.
  • Research information from multiple sources (e.g., web, legal bodies, industry associations, suppliers, banks, advisors).
  • Coordinate with internal departments to ensure alignment and support for investment projects.
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders including banks, suppliers, and advisors on project-related matters.
  • Provide periodic updates and insights to the Management Team on ongoing projects and new opportunities.
  • Support the Regional Team and COMEX with accurate data and analysis to inform strategic decisions.

Education, Training,Skills & Experience

Key Skills and Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Knowledge of project management tools and methods.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Finance, Economics, or a related field (CPA qualification is an advantage).
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a Business Analyst or in a similar analytical role.
  • Experience in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) is an added advantage.
  • Demonstrated ability to research and synthesize information from diverse sources.
  • Conduct market analyses to identify potential growth opportunities.
  • Prepare investment business plans and reports for management decision- making.
  • Liaise with relevant internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective project execution.
