MAIN PURPOSE OF THE ROLE

The CS Core Network Engineer is responsible for ensuring the availability, reliability, and quality of the CS network. This is achieved through proactive and reactive processes, routine maintenance, and effective fault resolution. The role also provides first-line support for core nodes and escalates issues to Senior Engineers when necessary.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Ensure continuous availability and optimal performance of the CS network.
  • Provide first-line support for core nodes and escalate complex issues to Senior Engineers.
  • Perform daily network maintenance routines to uphold system integrity.
  • Monitor network nodes to identify and resolve faults in a timely manner.
  • Act as an HLS resource for the NOC, supporting escalations and fault resolution while sharing knowledge.
  • Execute work orders assigned to the HLS pool.
  • Develop and implement new procedures under the guidance of the Senior Engineer or Manager.
  • Collaborate within the multifunctional matrix support structure across network operations (Core Network, BSS, Packet Switching, Earth Station, VAS, and Fixed Lines).
  • Communicate fault events in accordance with departmental and company-wide escalation procedures.
  • Conduct regular switch site DDF/ODF cleanups, ensure proper labeling, and maintain general room cleanliness.

REQUIREMENT & QUALIFICATION

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience in CS Core Network operations or a similar role.
  • Hands-on experience with CS Core network elements (MSC, HLR, STP, MGW, etc.).
  • Proven track record in troubleshooting and maintaining telecom network infrastructure.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

  • Strong knowledge of GSM, UMTS, LTE, and VoIP technologies.
  • Familiarity with signaling protocols (SS7, SIP, Diameter).
  • Proficiency in network monitoring tools and fault management systems.
  • Ability to perform routine maintenance and configuration on core network nodes.
  • Understanding of escalation procedures and incident management processes.

COMPETENCES

  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multifunctional team environment.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to maintaining operational standards.
