The BIG FIX Uganda is a Non-Governmental Organization with the mission of improving the health and well-being of animals and people and promoting human-animal bonds.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The organization is seeking a Communications Officer. Responsibilities will include: preparation of grant reports; collaboration on content creation for social media and marketing; capturing photographs and writing engaging stories about the organization’s work and its impact; communicating with donors via email; engaging with the local community to develop support and create partnerships; assist with website content development; social media engagement; campaign development and tracking; and writing and editing organization reports.
Women and persons with disabilities are especially encouraged to apply.
EDUCATION:
A degree in journalism, communications, public relations, marketing or related field but strong writing competence is the most important requirement.
QUALIFICATIONS:
We are looking for a team player who is interested in public service, not just in a paycheck. Our team members must have sincere compassion and love for animals and for improving the lives of the people who struggle with mental health issues in our community. The following additional qualifications are required:
- Exceptional writing skills and the ability to write engaging stories reporting on work being done
- Ability to write top quality communications to donors and prospective donors
- Ability to take quality photographs and short videos
- Confidence and the ability to make in person presentations to seek support and develop partnerships
- Exemplary time management skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Ability to use Word, e-mail, and Excel (for the right candidate, BIG FIX would provide in-house training on Excel use if the candidate is not already proficient
- Passion for our organization’s mission and objectives and commitment to working for a charity, rather than a profit-making organization.
- A neat appearance.
- References Required.
