Summary

The Digital Marketing Manager will be the driving force behind FFOU’s digital transformation and member engagement strategy. You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing marketing campaigns that promote the organization’s mission, enhance the value of membership, advocate for policy change, and support the commercial activities of its members. You will play a pivotal role in telling the story of Uganda’s fisheries sector to a diverse audience, from local fishers to international partners.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

The incumbent will be responsible for performing the following duties;

  1. Strategy & Leadership:
  • Develop and execute a comprehensive digital marketing and communications strategy aligned with FFOU’s strategic goals.
  • Manage the digital marketing budget and measure ROI on all campaigns.
  • Stay updated with the latest digital marketing trends and tools, adapting strategies to the Ugandan and East African context.
  1. Content Creation & Management:
  • Create, curate, and manage high-quality, engaging content (articles, blogs, newsletters, success stories, videos, infographics) for various digital platforms.
  • Manage and grow FFOU’s website, ensuring it is up-to-date, SEO-optimized, and serves as a key resource hub for members.
  • Develop compelling content to advocate for the interests of the fisheries sector to policymakers, development partners, and the public.
  1. Social Media Management:
  • Develop and implement a social media strategy to increase engagement, grow followers, and build community across platforms like Facebook, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Instagram, and WhatsApp.
  • Monitor social media channels for trends, conversations, and opportunities for engagement.
  1. Email Marketing & Communications:
  • Build and segment email lists to ensure targeted communication.
  • Design and execute regular email campaigns (e.g., newsletters, policy updates, training opportunities) to keep members informed and engaged.
  1. Stakeholder & Member Engagement:
  • Use digital tools to foster a strong sense of community among FFOU members.
  • Develop digital surveys and feedback mechanisms to understand member needs.
  • Support the promotion of FFOU events, training workshops, and annual conferences.
  1. Reporting & Analytics:
  • Monitor, analyze, and report on the performance of all digital marketing campaigns (website traffic, social media engagement, email open rates, etc.) using tools like Google Analytics.
  • Use data-driven insights to continuously optimize strategies and demonstrate impact to stakeholders.

Qualifications, skills and experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of proven experience in a digital marketing role.
  • A strong portfolio demonstrating successful digital marketing campaigns.
  • Proficiency in marketing tools and platforms (e.g., Meta Business Suite, Google Analytics, Google AdWords, email marketing software like Mailchimp).
  • Experience in content creation, including basic graphic design (Canva/Adobe Suite) and video editing skills is a strong advantage.
  • Experience in the agriculture, development, NGO, or member-based association sectors is highly desirable.
