Position Summary

The Finance Clerk shall be responsible for preparing, examining, and analyzing the accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Applies and follows the contractual obligations, Schneider’s policies and procedures.
  • Compute taxes owed and prepare tax returns, ensuring compliance with payment, reporting and other tax requirements.
  • Analyse business operations, trends, costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations, to project future revenues and expenses or to provide advice.
  • Establish tables of accounts and assign entries to proper accounts.
  • Develop, implement, modify, and document recordkeeping and accounting systems, making use of current computer technology.
  • Survey operations to ascertain accounting needs by advising them when their purchasing needs exceed the budgeted amount and to recommend, develop, and maintain solutions to business and financial problems.
  • Compile and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, and document business transactions.
  • Monitor and review accounting and related system reports for accuracy and completeness.
  • Perform monthly back reconciliations which involve resolving accounting discrepancies.
  • Supervise the input and handling of financial data and reports for the Schneider's automated financial systems.
  • Monitor/ track stock levels/ movement in the stores by regularly getting the stock levels from the stores and comparing the received, issued and actual materials in the store.
  • Prepares monthly management reports and submits them to his / her direct supervisor for reviewing. This includes stock and debtors’ information, fixed asset depreciation, payroll for the employees etc.
  • Post transactions into the accounting software such as purchased material (stock)
  • Prepares and files PAYE returns
  • Prepare journal entries.
  • General ledger operations
  • Monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements
  • Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts

Qualifications & Experience

Education

  • Degree in Financial Management/Accounts/Business Administration (or related curriculum) Or its Equivalent

Years of Experience

  • Minimum 2–4 years of working experience in similar role, preferably in infrastructure, utilities, or oil & gas projects.

Industry Exposure

  • Experience working on remote job sites or construction environments in the energy, oil & gas, or utilities sector.

Technical Tool/Software Proficiency

  • Safety reporting platforms
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Audit and risk assessment tools

Technical Skills

  • Knowledge of local and international tax law.
  • Knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards and International Standards on Auditing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills and should be good motivator who can guide the staff to meet the deadlines.
  • Knowledge in various accounting software packages and thorough knowledge in computing.
  • Knowledge in the Remote Site Services or Construction Industry.
  • Must be fluent in English.

Work Conditions

  • Based full-time at the EACOP construction and substation sites in Uganda.
  • Requires full PPE compliance and high mobility across remote or rugged job zones.
  • May involve extended hours or shift rotation during high-activity phases.
  • Exposure to oil & gas field conditions including noise, dust, height, and confined space environments.
