Qualification Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • Completed Professional accounting qualification such as ACCA, CPA is a must
  • A Master’s degree in Finance or Business Administration is an added advantage

Required Skill Set

  • Strong knowledge of financial reporting standards (IFRS)
  • Advanced financial analysis and forecasting skills
  • Experience with budgeting, cost control, and cash flow management
  • Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • High level of integrity, accuracy, and attention to detail
  • Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks, tax laws, and compliance requirements Relevant Industry Candidates must have exposure in working with Brokerage or Insurance Companies.

KRAs KPIs

Financial Planning & Analysis

1. Lead the budgeting and forecasting process for the company

2. Analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial results and provide insights

Banking & Accounts

Receivables Control

1. Daily monitoring of Cash & Bank Balances position & movement.

2. Verifying and Authorizing all Bank Payments

3. Regular follow up with clients for premium payments collection and submit cheques or transfer details to Insurers.

4. Compute commission workings and send to insurers immediately on premium receipt without waiting for commission workings from insurers.

5. Raise Invoices to insurers immediately on confirmation of commission schedule.

6. Regular follow up with Insurers for commission outstandings and try to collect immediately on submission of Tax invoice with insurer

Financial Compliance & Reporting

7. Ensure timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with IFRS

8. Monitor & assure filing of Monthly VAT, PAYE & NSSF Returns and any other statutory obligation within the required time.

9. Ensure all Returns records are kept monthly. Coordinate with the Head of claims & underwriting to prepare and keep records of IRA quarterly reports

10. Coordinate internal and external audits and ensure compliance with tax regulations

Cash Flow Management

1. Preparation of Monthly Payment Plan, Creditors report & cash flows. O/S premium statement to clients and reconciliation with insurers for commission and binders

2. Manage company cash flow and banking relationships

3. Optimize working capital by ensuring effective receivables and payables management

4. Regulate, monitor and ensure effective liaison with bank and various financial institutions, keep close watch on each activity and fulfill all obligatory requirements.

5. Monthly reconciliation of Insurer statements with clients outstandings

6. Oversee foreign exchange exposure and financial risk management

Customer Care/Servicing

7. Regular Correspondence with suppliers, customers & other external related parties.

8. Visiting the insurers and clients on a regular basis and also when the need arises and maintaining healthy relationships with them.

9. Continuous technical upskilling on IFRS changes and developments.

10. The quality of leadership experienced throughout the Finance unit and how effectively that translates into a conducive work environment and employee satisfaction and retention

Team Leadership & Development

1. Supervise and mentor the finance and accounting team

2. Ensure ongoing training and development of finance staff

3. Foster a culture of accountability and continuous improvement

Desired profile of the candidate

Public speaking: Fluent in English Language

Computer literate: Knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint and ERP is an added advantage

Min. Experience. 5 years’ experience in financial reporting or management accounting

Max. Experience. 3 to 5 Years’ Experience while working with Brokerage Companies in the Insurance Sector.
