The Finance Manager provides critical financial analysis and insights to support effective management decision-making and drive organizational performance at aBI Finance. This role ensures the accuracy and reliability of financial information, identifies and communicates key trends and risks, and proactively supports improved financial planning and control. By providing expert financial guidance and collaborating effectively with stakeholders across the organization, the Finance Manager contributes directly to the achievement of aBI Finance’s strategic objectives and sustainable growth.

REPORTS TO: Head of Finance.

SUPERVISES: Works collaboratively with the Finance Officer and Grants Management Specialist to review and approve transactions

SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES

Financial Planning and Forecasting Prepare and extract periodic financial statements to inform current status and projected performance to stakeholders (e.g., senior management, BOD, and public). ● Percentage of budgets and forecasts completed and approved within established timelines
Develop and manage comprehensive financial plans and forecasts, aligning with strategic objectives and resource allocation. Prepare detailed budgets and forecasts in collaboration with departmental leaders. ● Accuracy of budget projections, measured by variance between actual and forecasted financial outcomes
Monitor financial performance against forecasts and adjust as necessary.
Conduct regular forecasting sessions to identify potential funding gaps. ● Timely preparation and submission of periodic financial statements to stakeholders (senior management and Board).
Review and analyse variances to recommend corrective actions. Prepare Financial Proposals.
Financial Analysis & Advisory Support the Head of Finance in identifying the key stakeholders who require financial analysis and management information; ensuring a full understanding of requirements (content, format, timing). Timeliness and accuracy of financial analysis reports provided to senior management and the Board
Carry out accurate, timely and meaningful financial analysis and timing. Program the financial management software, liaising with the ICT team if necessary, to develop analytical tools and automated reporting templates that will meet stakeholder requirements.
provide expert advice, enabling Management to make effective financial decisions and minimise financial risks In particular, work collaboratively with investment teams and the Head of Impact & Sustainability to collate performance data and carry out Value for Money Analysis
Financial Operations Management Manage the assets and liabilities of the company, oversee transaction processing, and reconcile all financial statements. - Effective utilization of financial dashboards in management decision-making processes
Ensure efficient management of the company’s assets and liabilities through accurate transaction processing and reconciliation. Review and approve all payments and journals posted by the Finance Officer and Grants Management Specialist to ensure accuracy. - Percentage of budgeted vs. actual expenditure variances identified and addressed within reporting periods
Maintain comprehensive documentation for all transactions and financial activities. - Accuracy of financial records maintained; as measured by regular internal audits and reconciliations
Collaborate with the Finance Officer and Grants Management Specialist to streamline operational workflows. - Efficiency of transaction processing; measured by processing times
Implement controls to enhance the integrity of financial data. - Effectiveness of internal controls; as measured by the number of financial irregularities
Financial Reporting Develop comprehensive reporting schedules to ensure timely preparation and submission of all financial reports. - Timeliness and accuracy of financial reports submitted; meeting the requirements of all relevant stakeholders.
Prepare and submit financial reports, including financial statements, budget reports, and monitoring reports, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, regulations, and investor requirements. Incorporate relevant KPIs in financial reports to enhance insights into organizational performance and alignment with industry benchmarks. - High stakeholder satisfaction with the quality and usefulness of financial reports.
Conduct systematic variance analysis to compare budgeted figures against actual results, identifying discrepancies and providing actionable insights. - Actionable insights from variance analysis lead to timely and effective corrective actions.
Engage in continuous improvement by assessing the financial reporting process through stakeholder feedback and internal audits.
Ensure comprehensive documentation for all financial reports, including methodologies, assumptions, and data sources to support transparency.
Risk, Audit & Compliance Management Act as the team’s risk champion to assess, document, and share information regarding financial risks. ● Percentage of identified risks mitigated through implemented control measures.
Establish and enforce robust compliance frameworks to minimise risks and ensure adherence to financial regulations. Facilitate the successful completion of audits, ensuring compliance with all relevant laws, regulations, and internal procedures regarding financial transactions and reporting. ● Timeliness and quality of internal audit preparations, measured by unqualified audit reports.
Schedule and facilitate audits in collaboration with external and internal auditors. ● Fraud prevention training sessions and compliance awareness programs conducted for staff; feedback from participants indicates enhanced capacity
Prepare risk assessment reports to inform strategic planning.
Establish incident response protocols for identified financial risks.
Team Collaboration & Support Review transactions and analysis submitted by the Finance Officer and Grants Management Specialist, providing constructive feedback for improvement. ● Team efficiency, as demonstrated by timely and accurate completion of tasks
Work effectively with the Finance Officer and Grants Management Specialist to achieve efficient financial operations and enhance team synergy. Support the Finance Officer and Grants Management Specialist in developing skills and knowledge related to financial operations and policies. ● Improved skills and knowledge of the Finance Officer and Grants Management Specialist in financial operations and policies, measured through performance reviews and skills assessments
Foster open communication to ensure alignment in financial processes and objectives.
Encourage the sharing of best practices in financial management.
Provide guidance in resolving complex financial queries and issues.

  • Expertise in financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting, with a focus on strategic resource allocation and performance analysis.

  • Extensive knowledge of financial regulations, compliance standards, and reporting requirements.
  • Strategic financial planning in diverse organizational settings.
  • In-depth knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations, particularly relating to impact investments and development finance.
