JOB DETAILS:
Purpose of the Job:
As the head of secretariat, shall provide effective strategic leadership and direction to NUWODU and guide its development towards the achievement of her vision, mission, and requirements of mandate in line with established policies and procedures. She is the Secretary to NUWODU board of directors and will render accountability for the use of all NUWODU resources as the chief accounting officer.

Main tasks and responsibilities

• Lead the organizational planning processes and ensure the preparation of organizational plans and budgets for approval by NUWODU Board of Directors
• Ensure that the staff activities are aligned to the strategic plan and that the staff clearly understand their individual roles and contributions to the overall NUWODU strategy.
• Oversee programmes and financial implementation, monitoring and evaluation, checking that NUWODU quality standards are met and taking remedial action where necessary.
• Provide substantive advice to the Board of Directors and Senior Management on the Organizations strategy, direction and planning of programmes and projects.
• Support institutional capacity development of NUWODU membership organizations.
• Ensure contractual, statutory obligations and agreements of NUWODU are fully compiled and kept safely.
• Interpret and implement board policies, instructions and decisions timely
• Spearhead the review and development of NUWODU policies. •Ensure that NUWODU is able to attract, motivate and retain competent staff, including overseeing the recruitment processes. Provide support supervision, set performance targets, regularly appraise, and give feedback to Programme Manager and Finance and Administration Manager.
• Ensure compliance and adherence to NUWODU human resources, finance, safeguarding, motor-vehicles, assets, and procurement policies.
• Spearhead the development of a sustainable resource mobilization strategy.
• Coordinate fundraising and identify programme supporters to ensure there is sufficient funding and other resources for the implementation of NUWODU's strategic plan.
• Ensure all donors contractual obligations and other reporting requirements are aptly negotiated and that the terms of contracts are met in a timely manner.
• Spearhead efforts to build reserves and generating own resources for NUWODU.
• Ensure responsible expending and accounting for all assets and resources through regular monitoring and periodic reporting (budget monitoring)
• Review and ensure a comprehensive risk management register and updates.
• Foster and maintain good working relationship with existing and potential stakeholders at District, national, regional, int mati al level and development partners.
• Ensure mainstreaming of key disability, age and gender issues at all levels.
• Represent NUWODU and lead advocacy strategies:
• Represent NUWODU in National, Regional and International forums, public information/relations events and key meetings, participate in policy dialogue; discuss policy initiatives, present policy papers/ ideas on inclusion of women and girls with Disabilities.
• Build relations and partnerships with high level and senior government officials as well as multi-lateral, bi-lateral agencies and NGOs; and participate in regional, country and other critical meetings and events;
• Lead and support advocacy for gender equality and women's empowerment to ensure Issues of Girls and Women with Disabilities are mainstream in the mainstream development, women rights and disability rights movements.
• Create and maintain strategic partnerships and manage resource mobilization strategies:
• Lead the development of resource mobilization strategies and manage the development of proposals. Ensuring timely, and quality proposals are developed and submitted.
• Establish and maintain relationships with donors, partners, stakeholders to achieve active collaboration, cooperation and alliances on programme development and implementation and resource mobilization.
• Finalize donor reports and negotiate and/or approve cost-sharing agreements with donors.
• Establish reporting accountability framework to ensure that donors are duly informed on a timely basis.
• Knowledge management, innovation and capacity building: Develop and implement innovations and best practices in NUWODU Promote learning and development by providing opportunities for training and capacity guiding to enhance the competencies/ productivity of staff members.
• Lead the production of knowledge products.

Qualification
• Master's Degree in Gender studies, Human Rights Development Studies, Social and Policy Development and any related discipline. Experience
• The Job holder should possess at least 9 years' experience at managerial or senior level in NGO or similar sector supporting vulnerable categories. With focus on Gender, Disability and Women Empowerment.
