JOB DETAILS:

Role Overview:
The Health & Safety Specialist will develop, implement, and oversee company policies and procedures to ensure a safe and compliant work environment across the manufacturing facility. This role focuses on accident prevention and promoting a strong safety culture.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and enforce organizational health and safety guidelines.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and facility inspections to identify potential hazards.
• Investigate accidents or incidents to discover root causes and implement corrective actions.
• Organize and conduct employee health and safety training (e.g., fire drills, equipment handling).
• Ensure compliance with all local and national health and safety regulations.
• Maintain detailed records of safety inspections, incidents, and training activities.
• Manage and advise on the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Qualifications & Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field.
• Professional certification in Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH) is highly preferred.
• Proven experience (3+ years) as a Health & Safety Officer in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• In-depth knowledge of Ugandan health and safety legislation.
