Location: Ridge Hotel, Fort Portal, Uganda
Ridge Hotel is seeking a passionate, energetic, and talented Junior Chef to join our growing hospitality team. The successful candidate will support the kitchen team in preparing high-quality meals, maintaining food safety standards, and delivering exceptional dining experiences to our guests.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the preparation and cooking of meals according to hotel or restaurant standards.
- Prepare ingredients, including washing, peeling, chopping, and measuring.
- Ensure food is prepared and presented in a timely and appealing manner.
- Always maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen.
- Follow food safety and sanitation procedures.
- Assist with stock management, inventory checks, and proper storage of food items.
- Support senior chefs in daily kitchen operations.
- Ensure kitchen equipment is used safely and maintained properly.
- Help minimize food wastage and maintain portion control.
- Perform other kitchen duties as assigned by the Head Chef or Kitchen Supervisor
Qualifications and Experience
- Certificate or training in Catering, Hospitality, Culinary Arts, or a related field is an added advantage.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen operations.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to follow instructions and recipes accurately.
- Good personal hygiene and grooming standards.
- Reliable, hardworking, and willing to learn.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including weekends and public holidays.
- Previous experience in a kitchen or food preparation role is an added advantage
