East African Ministries is a fully registered Organization in South Sudan, that has been in existence since 2008 to-date. In 2014, East African Ministries established the Leadership Academy of South Sudan (LASS), a mixed boarding secondary school located in Nimule. LASS is registered as an international school with the Ministry of Education & General Instructions in Juba, South Sudan.

The school seeks to recruit a suitably qualified South Sudanese from within the East African region to fill the vacant position of Leadership & Discipleship (L&D) Coordinator.

JOB SUMMARY

The Leadership & Discipleship Coordinator provides direct support to the spiritual, moral, and leadership formation of students. The role involves planning, implementing, and overseeing student leadership programs, Christian discipleship pathways, and mentorship activities that promote character development, biblical values, and responsible citizenship.

The Coordinator works closely with teachers, chaplains, counselors, and student leaders to develop a thriving culture of Christian faith, integrity, and servant leadership across the school.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Spiritual Leadership and Cultural Modeling

  • Model a mature and active Christian faith in all professional duties.
  • Lead and contribute to daily devotions, prayer meetings, and school chapels.
  • Uphold and promote the LEAD4africa/East African Ministry culture of excellence, humility, integrity, and transparency.
  • Serve as a spiritual role model for students, staff, and student leaders.

2. Leadership Development Programming

  • Coordinate all student leadership structures (Prefects, Class Monitors, Peer Mentors, Clubs).
  • Facilitate training in leadership skills such as communication, responsibility, conflict resolution, teamwork, and service.
  • Lead planning and execution of leadership workshops, retreats, camps, and team-building activities.
  • Support student leaders in organizing assemblies, discipline support, and community service activities.
  • Maintain leadership development schedules, records, and evaluation tools.

3. Christian Discipleship & Spiritual Formation

  • Lead weekly discipleship programs, Bible studies, prayer fellowships, and Christian Union activities.
  • Support chaplaincy in planning and delivering spiritual formation programs and school-wide chapel services.
  • Mentor students in Christian living, biblical understanding, and moral decision-making.
  • Coordinate small-group discipleship models and one-on-one mentoring relationships.
  • Provide guidance and training to Christian Union committees and fellowship leaders.

4. Curriculum, Instruction & Co-Curricular Support

  • Support teaching of leadership, life skills, and biblical studies where applicable.
  • Design discipleship guides, teaching aids, and leadership learning materials.
  • Embed leadership themes and Christian values in co-curricular programs, clubs, and school culture.
  • Assist teachers in integrating moral and spiritual development across subjects.

5. Student Pastoral Care and Discipline

  • Provide pastoral counseling, listening support, and spiritual guidance to learners.
  • Identify vulnerable or at-risk students and refer promptly to Chaplain or School Administration.
  • Promote emotional, relational, and spiritual well-being through mentorship and follow-up.
  • Support student orientation programs and transitions for new learners.

6. Clubs, Community Service & School Engagement

  • Oversee leadership-related and discipleship-oriented clubs and societies.
  • Coordinate school-wide community service, outreach programs, and faith-based service activities.
  • Promote Christian service, stewardship, and ethical conduct among learners.
  • Support staff in organizing co-curricular and extracurricular activities that reinforce leadership and discipleship.

7. Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting

  • Track learner participation and growth in leadership and discipleship programs.
  • Maintain accurate records of attendance, mentoring logs, leadership activities, and discipleship progress.
  • Prepare periodic reports for the school administration and chaplaincy.
  • Use data to strengthen program effectiveness and inform decision-making.

8. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with teachers, chaplains, counselors, club patrons, and administrators to strengthen holistic student development.
  • Coordinate student participation in Christian leadership forums, youth conferences, and external discipleship events.
  • Represent the school at partner meetings, discipleship networks, and leadership training forums.

REQUIRED ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Theology, Leadership Studies, Social Sciences, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in Christian ministry, youth mentorship, leadership development, or discipleship programs.
  • At least 2–3 years of experience working with adolescents in a school, ministry, or youth development environment.
  • Strong grounding in biblical foundations, Christian doctrine, and adolescent spiritual formation.
  • Excellent facilitation, communication, interpersonal, and counseling skills.
  • A mature, practicing Christian whose lifestyle reflects biblical values.
  • Must have no criminal record and no history of child abuse, exploitation, or neglect.
