Soroti University is a Public University in Uganda located in Soroti City, Eastern Uganda Seven (7) kilometres along Soroti-Moroto Road. The University Secretary hereby invites applications from suitably qualified persons to fill the vacant posts listed below that exist in the University:
Responsibilities or duties
Key Functions
- Preparing lectures and conducting lectures to undergraduate and postgraduate students using innovative approaches which include e-learning, to the satisfaction of the University’s Quality Assurance standards.
- Guiding and advising students on their academic performance and attend to their queries on academic issues.
- Participating in and supervising on going Ophthalmology practicals.
- Conducting peer’s research in areas of his/her specialization among the present communities and disseminating the research findings.
- Supervising and mentoring students undertaking research in the present community.
- Organizing, attending and conducting seminars and relevant trainings.
- Setting tests, examinations and course work according to University standards and policies.
- Marking tests and examinations scripts and compiling results according to approved grading standards of the University.
Key Outputs
- Lesson plans prepared, and Lectures delivered according to the timetable.
- Fundable research proposals prepared and approved.
- Research conducted and research findings disseminated/published.
- Students undertaking research supervised.
- Seminars conducted.
- Tests, examinations and course work set, marked and results compiled.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
- Master of Medicine in Ophthalmology
- MBChB or MBBS.
- Must be registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners’ Council.
Experience needed
- At least two (2) years’ teaching experience at the level of Assistant Lecturer in an Institution of Higher Learning or two (2) years of research in a reputable organization or two (2) years of clinical work in Anesthesiology and Critical Care.
- Evidence of research in the relevant field with at least two (2) newly recognized publications within the last five years in peer reviewed journals or a book or book chapters with ISBN Numbers.
