On behalf of Our client in the Manufacturing sector, we are looking for a competent and experienced Machine Operator to be based in Kampala.

Reports To: Production Supervisor / Shift Leader

Job Summary: The Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining manufacturing machines to ensure efficient production of goods in accordance with company quality and safety standards. The role requires attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and the ability to troubleshoot minor equipment issues to minimize downtime.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

• Set up machines at the beginning of the shift to ensure proper working order.
• Operate machinery and production equipment according to established procedures and production schedules.
• Monitor machine operations to detect issues or malfunctions and make adjustments as needed.
• Conduct regular quality checks on products to ensure adherence to specifications.
• Load raw materials and unload finished products with care to avoid damage.
• Record production data, including quantities, downtime, and machine performance.
• Perform basic preventive maintenance, such as cleaning, lubrication, and parts replacement.
• Follow safety procedures and use personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
• Report equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to supervisors promptly.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the machine and surrounding work area.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

• High school diploma, technical certificate, or equivalent in relevant field.
• Previous experience as a machine operator in paint manufacturing is an advantage
• Basic mechanical and technical knowledge of machine operation.
• Ability to read technical documents, blueprints, or manuals is an added advantage.
• Good manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
• Strong attention to detail and quality.
• Ability to follow instructions and work independently or in a team.
• Problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot minor machine faults.
• Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift materials as needed.
