CHINT Uganda is seeking a detail oriented and experienced Management Accountant to join our growing finance team. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong internal controls, and driving efficient accounting processes. This is a hands-on position requiring proficiency in Tally ERP (experience with other accounting software is also welcome), a solid understanding of GAAP/IFRS, and strong supervisory capabilities. You will report directly to the Manager – Accounting & Tax Compliance and work closely with cross-functional teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Team Supervision. Lead and support the Accounts Assistants; review and approve transactions before posting.
• Month-End Close. Manage timely and accurate month-end closing, including accruals, provisions, and journal entries.
• Ledger Reconciliations. Perform and review reconciliations of key general ledger accounts (e.g., payables, receivables, inventory).
• Bank Reconciliations. Ensure accurate monthly bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies promptly.
• Management Reporting. Prepare and present monthly management accounts with variance analysis and actionable insights.
• Accounts Payable. Oversee supplier invoice tracking, documentation, and timely payment processing.
• Inventory Accounting. Reconcile physical inventory with system records and ensure ledger alignment.
• Audit Support. Facilitate year-end external audits and URA tax audits, including preparation of reconciliations and documentation.
• Other Duties. Perform any additional finance-related tasks assigned by the line manager.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• CPA, ACCA, or equivalent professional qualification (completed or near completion).
• Minimum 3 years of experience in a senior accounting position
Strong working knowledge of Tally ERP (preferred) or other accounting software
• Experience in manufacturing sectors is an added advantage.
• Solid understanding of IFRS, GAAP, and financial reporting principles.
