JOB PURPOSE:
To plan, coordinate, and schedule content. The role ensures that programming aligns with audience preferences, regulatory requirements, and the company's strategic goals.
Responsibilities
Ensures that a Daily transmission schedule (DTS) for Programs/promos/adverts is developed and submitted to transmission section on a daily basis to drive on-air sustenance.
Counter-check the day's compilation with transmission crew to emphasize the details of the DTS.
Ensures that all scheduled programs are previewed and submitted to the transmission section with their relevant ingestion lists on a daily basis.
Coordinate and monitor the day's transmission at all times in a bid to emphasize seamless transmission.
Support in analyzing audience ratings, viewership trends, and feedback to refine scheduling strategies.
Ensure all scheduled content adheres to regulatory guidelines and broadcasting standards.
Liaise with newsroom, marketing and commercial teams to ensure alignment between scheduled programming and promotional campaigns.
Collaborate with the digital team to curate content playlists and promotions.
Communicate schedule changes and updates to all relevant stakeholders.
Ensure accuracy and consistency in metadata, time codes, and program descriptions.
Develop contingency plans for disruptions, such as live broadcast overruns, technical failures, last minute changes and content availability challenges.
Qualifications and Experience
Academic:
Degree in Art, Film/Television, Broadcast Journalism or related field.
Professional:
Diploma in Technical TV Production such as Scheduling, Audio & Digital Video Editing (are added advantage).
Experience:
At least 2 years of working experience in broadcasting.
Core Competencies
Proven experience in television programming, broadcasting, or a similar role
Ability to troubleshoot any assignment difficulties that come within area of responsibility.
Excellent attention to detail
Excellent understanding of audience engagement and content curation
Familiarity with broadcasting regulations and compliance standards
Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities
Have proficiency in the English language (can read and write)
Excellent communication and organizational skills
Ability to work long and odd hours in a fast-paced environment
Adaptability to changing trends in linear and digital broadcasting
