1. Overall Purpose of the Position
To support the effective planning, coordination, and implementation of agribusiness development initiatives, including the establishment and strengthening of value chain platforms. The role contributes to advancing UAA’s mission of promoting a strong, inclusive, and sustainable agribusiness industry in Uganda through stakeholder engagement, technical support, and advocacy.
2. Key Roles and Responsibilities
- Programme Planning and Coordination – Lead the development of workplans, budgets, proposals, tenders, and technical reports. Support alignment of programme activities with UAA’s strategic objectives.
- Development and Management of Value Chain Platforms – Lead the establishment and operationalisation of specific value chain platforms.
- Facilitate selection of leadership, adoption of guiding documents, capacity-building, and advocacy initiatives.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Networking – Coordinate and participate in multi-stakeholder meetings and dialogues with farmers, traders, exporters, and development partners. Represent UAA in national coalitions such as the Food Safety Coalition of Uganda (FoSCU).
- Event and Logistics Management – Oversee planning and execution of workshops, field trips, coaching sessions, and stakeholder meetings.
- Supervision and Support of Project Staff and Consultants – Oversee and support consultants and project team members involved in value chain and agribusiness development initiatives.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, and Reporting – Support documentation of project progress, outcomes, and learnings through regular reports and reviews.
- Policy Advocacy and Institutional Support – Participate in advocacy activities that advance agribusiness-enabling policies through platforms and stakeholder consultations.
- Resource Mobilization and Proposal Development – Contribute to identifying funding opportunities and preparing high-quality proposals to donors and development partners.
- Innovation and Knowledge Sharing – Promote innovative approaches in agribusiness development and facilitate knowledge exchange across value chains.
- Other Duties – Perform any other tasks as may be assigned by the Chief Executive Officer or designated supervisor to support UAA’s mission.
3. Qualification and Experience Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Agribusiness, Agriculture, Agricultural Economics, or a related field.
- A relevant postgraduate qualification (e.g., in Agribusiness Management, Global GAP, Farmer Assurance, or Project Planning and Management) is an added advantage.
Professional Experience:
- At least 3–5 years of progressive work experience in programme implementation, stakeholder coordination, or project management within the agricultural, agribusiness, or development sector.
- Demonstrated experience in organising and managing multi-stakeholder platforms, value chain development, or private sector engagement in agriculture.
- Experience in proposal writing, donor reporting, and development of technical documents such as workplans, budgets, and reports.
- Experience in facilitating workshops, field visits, and training sessions for diverse actors including farmers, traders, exporters, and development partners.
- Previous involvement in advocacy, policy engagement, or coalition building within the agribusiness or rural development context is desirable.

- Research and Analytical Skills – Ability to collect, analyse, and interpret data to inform decision-making, policy engagement, and programme adjustments.
- Leadership and Supervisory Skills – Ability to supervise junior staff, consultants, and project teams effectively.
- Innovation and Problem-Solving – Creative and solution-oriented, with a proactive mindset towards addressing operational or strategic challenges.
- ICT and Digital Literacy – Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with project management tools and digital collaboration platforms.
