Background information about the job or company:
We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Project Tendering & Business Development Manager to spearhead our efforts in securing high-value contracts. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the entire tendering life cycle, managing key client accounts, and implementing strategies to achieve significant growth in our construction portfolio.
Responsibilities or duties:
- Lead the full tender life cycle from opportunity identification and expression of interest (EOI) to final contract submission and negotiation.
- Analyze complex construction tender documents to determine scope, risk, and commercial viability.
- Develop winning technical proposals and methodologies for construction projects.
- Manage cross-functional collaboration with Site Engineers, Estimators, and the Finance team.
- Formulate and execute a strategic growth plan targeting major clients in the public and private sectors.
- Cultivate and sustain long-term, high-level relationships with key clients, consultants, and procurement officials.
Qualifications or requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related technical field.
- Master’s degree in business administration (MBA) or a qualification in Project Management (PMP/PRINCE2).
- Minimum of 5 years’ progressive experience in technical sales, tendering, or bid management within the Construction or Engineering sector.
- Superior communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Experience needed:
Demonstrable and successful track record in securing competitive contracts in Uganda. Experience working with international development agencies, multilateral organizations, and major Ugandan Ministries/Agencies is a strong advantage.
