Future Options Consulting Ltd is recruiting on behalf of a reputable public sector development institution in Uganda with a mandate to promote strategic investments, economic development, research, and sustainable growth across key sectors of the economy.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide financial expertise and leadership in managing the financial operations of the corporation. The role is responsible for ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining regulatory compliance, and implementing process improvements critical to the financial health and strategic success of the Corporations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Analysis and Reporting
- Preparation of quarterly, half-year and annual financial statements for both headquarters and consolidated to the manager, ensuring they align with accounting standards and accurately reflect the corporation's financial position within the statutory timelines.
- Prepare other related financial reports required by the manager from time to time.
Receivables Control
- Maintain staff debtors' accounts, ensuring accurate recording and reconciliation.
- Review investment-related debtors’ accounts and prepare journal entries for accrued interests, and share of profits/loss, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
Compliance and Auditing
- Ensure all financial practices comply with relevant accounting regulations, standards, and internal policies.
- Assist with internal and external audits by verifying the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of financial records and transactions.
Budget Control and Performance
- Monitor and control budget performance, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions to improve financial outcomes.
- Prepare a budget and workplan analysis report to facilitate the management decision process regarding available funds and the next proposed investments by Analysing the released funds in comparison to budget and expenditure.
- Support in the preparation of the departmental annual budget.
Accounting Operations
- Review and post all general ledger entries in the accounting system.
- Supervise reconciliations for accounts payables, accountable advances, bank, cash, petty cash, and inventory.
- Supervise and review fixed assets reports and payment documents for completeness and correctness.
- Timely and accurate preparation of payrolls, filing of tax returns (PAYE, WHT, VAT) and NSSF contributions, in compliance with legal statutory requirements.
- Prepare and disburse staff pay slips after remittance of monthly salary.
Risk and People Management
- Assist in identifying and assessing risks related to departmental activities while performing assigned responsibilities.
- Support the implementation of approved risk mitigation strategies to reduce the impact of identified risks.
- Supervise subordinates by setting clear goals, providing mentorship and promoting continuous improvement through regular feedback, performance evaluations, and recognition of achievements.
Other Duties
- Handle contract committee duties as and when appointed by the Finance Manager.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Knowledge, skills and competences
- Strong understanding of financial work.
- High attention to detail and accuracy.
- Organisational and time management skills.
- Communication skills both verbal and written.
- Have knowledge and ability to use accounting software.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, commerce, finance, accounting or related field and;
- Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or a similar qualification.
- Post graduate qualification in a related field is an added advantage

- Six (6) years of experience in a similar function.
