Overall purpose of the job.
To supervise the repairs, maintenance servicing and installation of new electrical equipment and gadgets in the factory and ensure their functional efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
• Plan and carry out installation of electrical equipment in the factory.
• Attend to all faulty main switches, power control fuses, control circuits and contactors and ensure that all factory lighting is functioning properly.
• Check ampere meters and their selection switches clean and tighten the connections.
• Test all completed repairs, service all maintenance jobs before handing over to operators/ users.
• Control overall standards of electrical work in the factory electrical workshop.
• Allocate special tools and equipment to workers in the section.
• Supervise and coordinate the general overhauling of electrical equipment in the workshop during off crop and other major shutdowns.
• Monitor factory performance and other electrical jobs in progress in the section.
• Carrying out on job training for subordinate staff, management and Industrial trainees attached to the section.
• Prepare and submit daily and other relevant periodical reports about all repair and maintenance activities carried out in the section to the repair and maintenance superintendent.
• Adhere to and enforce company safety, health and environment regulations in place among subordinate employees
• Perform any other related duties as may be assigned to you by Repair & Maintenance - Superintendent / management from time to time.
Education:
• A degree in electrical engineering or its equivalent from a recognized institution.
A certificate in supervisory management is an added advantage.
Experience, Skills and Competences:
A minimum of three (03) years hands on experience as an electrician technician. Knowledge in electrical power safety regulations, electrical power handling principles and practices, electric shock first aid treatment, technical maintenance engineering procedures, ability to interpret technical drawings and sketches, basic supervisory skills, good communication and interpersonal skills.
