 East African Ministries is a fully registered Organization in South Sudan that has been in existence since 2008 to date. In 2014, East African Ministries established the Leadership Academy of South Sudan (LASS), a mixed boarding secondary school located in Nimule. LASS is registered as an international school with the Ministry of Education & General Instructions in Juba, South Sudan.

The school seeks to recruit a suitably qualified South Sudanese from within the East African region to fill the vacant position of Teacher - Chemistry & Biology.

JOB SUMMARY

The Chemistry and Biology Teacher delivers high-quality instruction in both subjects through well-prepared lessons, practical laboratory activities, and continuous assessment. The teacher supports student academic progress, maintains accurate records, provides pastoral care, and contributes to co-curricular programs, while modeling Christian values and promoting a culture of excellence within East African Ministry.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Spiritual Leadership and Cultural Modeling
  • Embody a high standard of personal Christian faith and integrity in all professional relationships and activities.
  • Actively contribute to and occasionally lead daily Christian devotions.
  • Uphold and promote the East African Ministry culture of excellence and transparency.
  1. Curriculum, Instruction, and Academic Excellence
  • Develop comprehensive schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching materials aligned with the curriculum.
  • Deliver engaging and effective lessons that ensure student mastery of theoretical and practical knowledge.
  • Utilize diverse instructional strategies to cater for different learning styles.
  • Maintain updated subject knowledge and integrate relevant scientific content into lessons.
  • Mentor and support trainee teachers and teaching assistants.
  1. Student Assessment and Progress Monitoring
  • Design, administer, and mark tests, assignments, and examinations.
  • Provide timely and constructive feedback to students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, including reports for parents.
  1. Student Pastoral Care and Discipline
  • Provide guidance and counseling to support students’ holistic well-being.
  • Manage classroom behavior effectively and apply disciplinary measures in line with school policy.
  • Participate in student orientation and integration processes.
  1. Administrative and Co-curricular Engagement
  • Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, school events, and professional development sessions.
  • Organize and lead co-curricular activities such as clubs, sports, and educational trips.
  • Perform any administrative duties assigned by the school administration.

REQUIRED ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor of Science with Education or a relevant BSc degree with a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (majoring in Chemistry and/or Biology).
  • Must have strong academic performance in these subjects, equivalent to a Distinction at lower-secondary and an A–B grade at upper-secondary level in his/her national education system.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of teaching experience in secondary school sciences.
  • A mature, practicing Christian who models faith through lifestyle.
  • No criminal record or history of child abuse or neglect.
  • Willingness to live and work in Nimule or the assigned location.

  • Strong academic mastery and practical competence in Chemistry and Biology.
  • Proficiency in ICT tools such as MS Office for planning and instruction.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork, and report-writing abilities.

  • A growth mindset, openness to learning, and willingness to receive instruction.
