About One Acre Fund

Founded in 2006, One Acre Fund equips 5.5 million smallholder farmers to make their farms more productive. Across nine countries that together are home to two-thirds of Africa's farmers, we provide high-quality farm supplies, tree seedlings, accessible credit, modern agronomic training, and a wide range of other agricultural services. About the Role

Seeking a professional with 2+ years’ experience in survey management, advanced skills in Excel, digital data tools (Commcare and Kobo), and team management, to deliver high-quality survey data. You will oversee all survey project within the MEL department, taking ownership of innovations through continual identification and mapping out of processes that need improvement

Responsibilities

Survey projects Management

  • Oversee the planning, preparation, and execution of survey projects.
  • Add new users to CommCare and program complex surveys with minimal errors, supported by a manager.
  • Set display and validation conditions for surveys and test them on tablets, implementing corrections.
  • Manage case lists, troubleshoot mid-level challenges, and ensure smooth user interface functionality.
  • Conduct multiple field visits weekly, troubleshoot field issues, and provide support to supervisors.
  • Track supervisor performance and manage field feedback, producing scorecards and KPI reports.
  • Prepare and cross-check enumerator and trainer guides, ensuring alignment with survey tools.
  • Manage survey training, write and grade exams, and analyze results to guide the next steps for team qualifications.
  • Monitor field staff performance and data quality processes using CommCare and other tools like Zapier. Produce and analyze weekly KPI reports, manage back-check questions, and verify data accuracy.
  • Execute variable renaming processes and update dashboards and mid-survey reports.

Stakeholder Engagement and Department Operations Support

  • Manage hiring processes for your team, working with HR to establish systems and dashboards.
  • Oversee payroll-related actions and track low-value expenditures within the role.
  • Develop MEL inventory management systems and procure high-value items with senior staff oversight.
  • Propose and implement improvements within work areas, executing solutions to challenges with guidance.

People Management

  • Takes a high degree of ownership of the performance of their team to drive results based on setting short-term goals
  • Develop and oversee ongoing training/capacity-building activities for existing team members
  • Conduct and oversee performance evaluations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Monitoring & Evaluation, Statistics or related field.
  • Experience in people management
  • 2+ years of experience in survey project management. Have used tools like Kobo or Commcare, Google Sheet (Intermediate- formulas and coding surveys)
  • Experience in team training/capacity building, attention to detail and ensuring data quality.
  • Experience in managing stakeholders and cross-collaboration
