JOB PURPOSE

To provide support in developing and implementing media and communication strategies.

PERSON SPECIFICATIONS

Academic Qualification

A Master's Degree in Communication, Public Relations, Journalism, Corporate Communication, Management or Leadership obtained from a recognised university/institution.

A Bachelor's Degree with Honours in Communication, Journalism, Mass Communication, Public Relations, and Media Studies, or a closely related field from a recognised institution.

Work Experience

At least NINE years of relevant experience, THREE of which should have been obtained at Principal level or comparable level in Media, Communication, Public Relations, or Corporate Affairs from a reputable organisation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement media and communication strategies for the Office of the Speaker.
  • Coordinate media relations and maintain effective relationships with journalists, editors, and media houses for the Office of the Speaker.
  • Prepare press releases, speeches, newsletters, feature articles, and other communication materials for the Speaker.
  • Coordinate media coverage of events, programmes, and official functions of the Speaker.
  • Manage the Speaker's website and social media platforms to ensure timely and accurate communication for the Speaker.
  • Monitor media coverage and prepare media monitoring and analysis reports.
  • Support crisis communication planning and manage communication during emergencies for the Speaker.
  • Ensure consistency in organisational branding and corporate identity.
  • Advise the Speaker on media engagement and public relations issues.
  • Prepare departmental work plans, budgets, and performance reports.
  • Supervise subordinates.
  • Perform any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.
