JOB DETAILS:

Background

Makerere University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for various academic, administrative, and support staff positions.

Job Purpose

To transport people from one destination to another while maintaining all safety precautions

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Operate as requested by dispatch staff including demand/ response trips during traditional and non-traditional days and work hours;
• Regularly perform trip validations bus stop checks gate/ site and field checks, equipment transfers and shuttles;
• Inspect bus cleanliness and body condition and inventory assistance for safety and accessory component;
• Complete and submit field trip report
• Provide bus safety education presentations to various individuals, driver assistance for non-police emergencies;
• Prepare and submits reports identifying discrepancies in equipment and bus parts;
• Provide mentoring with their specific knowledge on driving technique and strategies to other University drivers as assigned;
• Operate all types and sizes of buses with minimum notification and preparation;
• Collect and submit other data on university bus operations as assigned;
• Maintain effective professional working relationships;
• Regularly attend and/or participate in mandated instruction/training classes for specialized driving skills during traditional and nontraditional workdays and work hours;
• Perform any other related duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications

• UCE Certificate;
• Valid Driver’s license under Class DE

Experience

At least two years’ bus driving.

Tenure of Appointment

4-year contract

Age Limit
